Need to get my race wheel set-up figured out for my HIM in 2 weeks - last time (Florida race) did 1080/sub-9 combo and was content but it’s over $300 for the rental, so I’m just trying to be “fiscally responsible” - I have access to the Oval 978’s that come as stock on the Fuji D6 2.0 - the specs from the Fuji site are
“Oval 978 carbon rims w/ alloy braking surface, 78mm rims, straight pull DT Swiss aero-spokes 16/20H, sealed bearing hubs”
Would love to hear if anyone knows how they compare to Zipps in the 404/808 combo range…Trying to figure out how much more I’ll save on the Zipps vs using the free Ovals - and yes I have a nice carbon bike with a nice carbon crank and wear a nice aero helmet, so I have taken the proper measures to save in all the truly impactful ways…and my bike splits are generally at the top of the heap of the amateur women when I race so it makes a difference for me to use race wheels. I’m not well versed in race wheel stats, and I know lots of ST’ers are so I’d love to get thoughts…
