It’s a pity ABC’s Wide World of Sports isn’t on anymore. A video of this would be a great “agony of defeat” section. I hope the skis are all that’s broken.
Last I read he was in a coma (and being kept in one by the docs) and they were saying his condition was critical - although they do think he will recover.

Accidents like that are a downhill skier’s worst nightmare. I am both pleased and surprised that his doctors think he will survive; at the speeds these skiers get going snow is not particularly soft and he hit hard enough to bounce.
