OT: World Is Flat - Friedman

I’m midway thru this and pretty much blown away by it. I’ve also been reading Bagwadi’s ‘In Defence of Globalization.’ Anyone else read the Friedman book? What’s your take?

Also reading World is Flat. Probably about a third of the way through. Just finished section about Open Sourceing. Subject of Out sourceing is next. Although I’m not a computer geek, found the subject matter to to be very interesting. If you’re thinking about reading it, it’s not just about the computer industry. Very contemporary book in that it was published late last year or early this year. It makes me feel that if I don’t read it quick enough, I’ll soon be left behind.

Dude, It’s a lucid insight into the future. I’ve ordered copies to be sent to both sisters and my Dad. I want my sister to know what her kids are facing. I also think it should be heavily suggested to all college students and public/foriegn policy makers. I read the “Lexus…Olive Tree” last year. A few years late, but a good introductory to this latest book.
The World is Flat more directional in it’s insights. Mindblower.
Most of what he covers was touched upon in one of my classes last year, “Technology, Society, and the Economy.”
Way cool stuff.
