I’ve listed couple of items and 3-4 of them bike/triathlon related. Only for the bike/triathlon related ones I keep getting emails from different countries (specially Asia and Canada) asking if I will ship it overseas.
They are (or look like) actual bidders with feedback. is this a new kind of Ebay scam?
it could be, beware. however, when i was cleaning out my stuff to move last year i sent a bunch of stuff overseas. chainrings to new zealand, panniers to spain, shifter bosses to england. a friend sells all her used cycling clothes to people in austrailia. go figure. i guess that stuff is too expensive overseas, or they just can’t get it. they all paid, and paid the shippng costs too.
my wife’s barbie doll stuff went all over the world as well. someone in japan paid $150 for a pair of barbie shoes. yes, little plastic SHOES.
be sure when you check the feedback it’s not all new feedback. i know of one where the guy showed perfect feedback but he had bought 3 small dollar items very recently and was now looking to bid on a $3k bike.
also, buyers beware, i sold a bike once and a few days later i got a phone call from a guy about it. he had been outbid but someone (pretending to be me, the seller) sent him an email saying the real buyer backed out and he was eligible to buy the bike for his bid price. he sent the guy his money!! man, i felt real bad for him. so, beware
good luck
Thanks, I have contacted Ebay and they said there are a lot of automated scams running specially if your email and user name are the same. For example if your email is black@yahoo.com and ebay id is “black”.
Funny thing, when i reply to them I do not get any answer, but once Instead of replying to the person who asked question i found his user name and contacted him through ebay and he said he never bidded and looked at my items!
The dollar is weak, so it’s attractive to buy things from us right now.
