I caught the segment on PTI with T.O. and his agent Drew Rosenhaus. This guy is the poster boy for the selfish overpaid athlete. I wanted to puke after hearing his excuses for leaving/being sent home from training camp. He speaks of being respected so much. Yet he respects others so little. How in the world can a receiver say he will not talk to the QB. This guy is a total butt-head. He said the coach wanted to be controlling and “be the man”, guess what fool he is the head coach. This is without question the most clueless person on the earth.
The game is bigger than T.O and I hope they sit himdown all year long and tie him down in his contract… T.O is pathetic excuse for a professional and his agent, Rosenhaus, is appaling, but damn good at what he does.
Weeman
T.O. might be screwing the pooch this time. I don’t think the Eagles are going to play his little game.
To play a little devil’s advocate (I don’t necessarily agree with how T.O. handled his situation but I am hoping to become an agent when I’m done with school) the fact that T.O. is not even among the top ten highest paid player’s at his position is a joke. Fans don’t necessarily enjoy his me first act, but by all accounts he busts his ass in practice and games and was one of the biggest impact players maybe in the whole league last season. The NFL also provides the least guaranteed money for players when compared to baseball and basketball, meaning it’s not all that rare to see a star with years left on his contract cut during the summer, why is it an issue if a player doesn’t honor the contract but not if the team refuses to? If T.O. had drastically underperformed last year the Eagles would have been talking about cutting him during the offseason, instead he outplayed his contract and wants to see some retribution.
So why did he sign a seven year deal knowing he wouldn’t be one of the highest paid players at his position?
I hope they sit his ass down all season. I don’t say this about many players but I’d love to see him get a career ending injury and never earn another dime from football.
If he had severely underplayed his contract would the Eagles then be allowed to renegotiate and pay him less money? A contract is just that, it is suppose to be a guarantee to both sides they will get what they want. You sign it you live up to it.
The Eagles wouldn’t have renegotiated with him, they would have cut him. Everytime a player holds out the fans jump on his back about honoring his contract, is it honoring the contract when a team cuts an underachieving player in june to avoid having to pay him a prenegotiated roster bonus for the upcoming season?
Like I said I don’t think T.O. handled the situation very well, if anything I think he should have tried to turn in another season like his last one then asked to renegotiatie, two years removed from a new contract doesn’t look quite as bad as one year.

yes. they are also allowed to cut him.
having said that, i’m with larrycalifornia on this - i want an eagles parade with no t.o.
e-a-g-l-e-s eagles!
both sides they will get what they want. You sign it you live up to it.
and the eagles got what they wanted. they should not be suprised by what has transpired.
T.O. deserves more money based on his performance. He will very likely sabotage his team to do so.
They gambled in signing T.O., it got them over the NFC championship hump though the lost the SB and now they are experiencing the downside of the bargain.
I think a player should honour his contract but in the NFL i dont hold it against a player who holds out. That is his choice - a bargaining tactic. If they hold out they dont get paid anything at all so it is a big risk for them. If they are rewarded because management gives in, good for them.
T.O. is doing this and he is a hard worker but he is purposely poisoning team chemistry which i dont agree with.
Basically i would be totally on his side if he would hold out but not be an A-Hole by calling out teammates like saying ‘I’m not the one that got tired in the super bowl’
The holdout is one of the very few bargaining chips nfl players have and i cant begrudge them when they do this. Teams dont have a problem cutting players under contract if they think thats the way to go.

How did he get them over the NFC Championship hump? He is obviously a good player but they were what, 2-0 without him and 0-1 with him in the post season?
counterpoint: Here in MN, we just restructured Cullpeper’s contract to reflect his growing talent. He’s getting more money by performing well and keeping his mouth shut and not destroying the team.
ok, i dont mean that he was the only reason they made the SB
T.O. was the MAJOR change on the team, especially offense and D. McNabb had a huge career year. T.O. made a huge positive impact on the team last year.

Who do you think Budweiser patterned “Leon” after?
Everytime TO does something that causes me to want to dislike him, he does somethin gin a game that is either brilliant, hilarious, or just downright entertaining.
He’s one of those guys that poeople are not neutral on … that’s perfect b/c those guys sell tickets. Fans go to boo/cheer for them … and many fans don’t care which.
**This is without question the most clueless person on the earth. **
TO always seems to be playing some type of game. IMO< TO is the typical “dumb like a fox” guy.
If MY Eagles ever win a SuperBowl, I don’t want T.O. anywhere near it.
I wouldn’t lose any sleep over that one. Doubt TO, or the Eagles will be anywhere near a superbowl trophy any time soon.
And so the Iggles are somehow at fault for getting a bargain.
A bargain b/c of his “high risk, not many teams wanted him” profile (at the time).

He also tried something new and decided not to lead the league in interceptions. That’s always a good thing for QB’s.
The Eagles will be worse without TO. McNabb still has a lot to show (said seriously), and I don’t see any of the other Eagles’ receivers being anything special.
Who do you think Budweiser patterned “Leon” after?
Great observation never thought about that before. spot on.
His crazy like a fox routine is somewhat believable but the crying on camera when being interviewed is just too much.
His games are sooooooooo old. sit his ass down like the Bucs did Keyshawn.

IMO, TO is one of those guys that’s immature for his age (my wife would die laughing if she heard me say that about someone else). I think his silliness, selfishness, and emotionalness, are all legit (I honestly have no way of knowing). I can relate to him wondering why everyone else doesn’t find him as cool as he does.

The difference is TO is every bit as good as he thinks he is … Meshawn wasn’t even close.
The last stop for all the messups in Pro ball. I love my team. I am really hoping Randy Moss can catch a few big ones this year and put them shameless Vikings in there place. Anybody want to trade owners?

When I came home last night and saw his interview, that was my thought exactly. “OMG - it’s the guy in the beer commercial! He is real!”
I listened to a couple of hours of sports journalists reporting about TO leaving camp and no one knew what the team meeting or fight was about. What I just said in one sentence, was repeated all evening in as many different ways as possible. I couldn’t believe how much they kept beating it to death instead of just saying they would report more later when more information was released. Sheesh…and men think women are gossipy?! I haven’t seen any of it today, too busy and hubby recorded the track and field worlds instead. How about that Brian Clay!?!
TO is one of the three highest paid receivers when you look at the first three years of his contract. He got a very large signing bonus last year, and has a smaller base salary this year. That is what happens in just about every contract that every big name player signs, assuming that the player is signing with a team that has a basic clue as to how to manage the salary cap.
I’m an Eagles fan, and I assume that TO would stay on the straight and narrow for one season. That’s what he did. Now, it’s time for his antics. If he keeps it up a couple more weeks, the Eagles ought to put him on the physically unable to perform list because of his groin “injury”, which would let them activate him after week 6 if things guy straightened out. Either that or someone ought to do to TO in the locker room what Rick Tochet reportedly did to a guys that wasn’t carrying his weight on the Flyers a few years back. I think Jeremiah Trotter would be up to the task.
The Eagles wouldn’t have renegotiated with him, they would have cut him. Even if they cut him he gets paid, at least if his agent had that signed into his contract. Believe it or not, employers are allowed to sut/fire people if they are not living up to their end of the contract. Why is it people think just because people are pro athletes they should get special treatment and not be fired and what not. Ridiculous.
Hello, I believe that NFL contracts are not and can not be guaranteed. If your cut your out. The bonuses are paid up front and are guaranteed.
