…I can only think of the kid on the shoulders…

My legs just can’t move fast enough to escape this nightmare.
Thanx for the images.
Jay
I’m not sure that first one is real. Looks like it’s been through photoshop.
If it is though - damn. It’s sad to think that those people probably didn’t survive.
Edit: I take that back, I just realised it is a blown-up section from the image below it (right hand side middle).
they’re all real
.
Just horrific… amazing images.
The 4th photo seems to confirm a common response to a tsunami - everyone rushing to the beach to watch.
Yesterday I spoke with my Dad in NZ about a guy that I went to school with. He had been travelling in the asia area at the time of the tsunami and his parents became more and more worried after they didn’t hear from him after the tsunami. A week later after tracing his last know location to Phuket on Dec 24 and no activity on his bank accounts since, they had all but given him up for dead.
10 days after the tsunami they get a phone call from him.
He is a keen rock climber and was on a normally uninhabited island off Phuket with 36 other climbers. He was sitting on the beach with an american guy when the sea went out a kilometer. The two of them thought something was up and decided to climb the cliff. They went as high as they could, tied themselves off and yelled at the others to do the same but no one listened. Shortly after the other 35 were washed away as the water rose to within 2 meters of them.
After climbing down they spent 5 days living on coconuts before building a raft and escaping back to Phuket then travelling overland to Bangkok to make the call.
I guess you would call that a close shave.
PS regards to your sister in law.
looks like the 1st image is the same as the second…just larger and slightly pixelated…pretty nucking futs though

Stephen,
These photos seem to be from a tidal wave that forms in a Chinese river, I don’t remember the name. That tidal wave is a big tourist attraction and every year people flock to the mouth of the river to watch it. Last year some people were caught in it and died, I remember seeing the footage.
If you look at the pics, the people are definitely chinese, as are the buildings and the cars. And you can see that they were in the shore waiting for it to happen, there’s a guy on top of a van taking photos. Also notice how people are laughing as they run from the wave on the first picture.
So these pics are not from the tsunami.
ha…okay, I shall go and kill my sister-in-law who sent them to me!!!
WOW. Now THAT’S a story. Amazing.
and I call myself a designer who’s used to spotting things in photographs…what an idiot I am…I told my wife that “they seem to be laughing…there were an awful lot of Chinese people there weren’t there?!”
well done smartasscoach for spotting this hoax…bad thing is it’s obviously being chain-emailed all over the world as we speak!!!
Tidal Bore, I believe.
No no no no no no that is a bad idea… If she really has to be punished, extradite her to Western Australia.
Also notice the spectators with umbrellas on a sunny day.
Yhea but I’m in WA not Central Aus!
Have you seen his sister in law! right up there with your lovely wife in the Hottie stakes.
Fake as hell, but pretty cool looking
