OT: Rush's divorce due to sexual preference?

I heard Rush is getting a(nother) divorce due to sexual preference. Anybody else here this? was it his preference or his wife’s?

Combination of both: sexual preference for anybody except his wife.

this is why we must put a stop the homosexual lobby and their assaults on the institution of marriage. imagine what would happen if we allowed them to marry?

tongue in cheek here, but I know gay and lesbian couples who’ve been together for a long time, who will not end up marrying thrice (some churches do conduct marriage ceremonies for same-sex couples), and who will not end up marrying as a joke and then divorcing the next day (potshot at Britney here). I don’t see what straight people have to fear. heterosexual people will go on marrying as we did before - which is not saying much.

meanwhile, many children are cared for by families with parents of the same gender. they are - and there is social science evidence to prove it - they are no more likely than average to turn out gay or lesbian, no less well-adjusted than children of ordinary families (not that there really is one ‘ordinary’ family now); they are indeed subject to more discrimination than children of regular families are, but they are able to cope with it (and children of interracial families once faced that same discrimination, and probably still do, some). anecdotal evidence indicates that they may turn out more open minded than the population, but that’s a good thing (right?).

if Rush is gay, he should just damn well admit it, find a great guy, and ride off into the sunset. Gene Robinson, recently consecrated as a Bishop in the Episcopal Church, did.

I thought it was the preference of his wife for anybody but a cigar-chomping, Oxycontin-doping, loudmouth bloviator idiot.

Here’s what he should do: (definitely a win-win for all concerned)

  1. Come out of the closet.

  2. Either run with John Kerry on the ticket (this might just make it possible for Kerry to win) or join the Kerry campaign for a promised cabinet level position (or better yet, press secretary).

Now those would be enjoyable White House press conferences.

I was thinking more in terms of him writing a mea culpa autobiography, donating all of his money to stem cell research, and then stepping in front of a large moving truck.

So what if he is gay? Gay conservatives are everywhere. Log Cabin Republicans?

Rush’s rhetoric falls of its own heavy weight. We don’t need to bash him for his sexual preference.

Also, I LIKE Rush. I’m no right winger, but I think the guy is a first class comedian. I don’t take anything he says seriously.

You bet! I heard that he’s into aggressive goatplay. Give me some time and I’ll Photoshop the proof.

But will the goat allow you to take the picture. . .and if he does, is he really a goat?

Sorry, wasn’t trying to gay-bash, just wanted to see what others knew about a rumor and I figured this board was as good a place as any. I have a brother who’s gay and I don’t love him any less than the others. For that matter, I know women who’ve had an abortion, and surgeons and bond traders who still get high, and I don’t love them any less either. To each his own…

I also have a gay brother and have spent 40 years defending him.

I know the drill - made for a lot of bloody noses and split lips (mine, his and theirs) back in the drunken high school party days.

wasn’t trying to imply that you were. I’m more bashing Rush, and the people who whine about how gay marriage is going to destroy the family.

I don’t like the Republican party, mostly, but I figure I could get along with the gay ones. who knows, Rush Limbaugh might be one of them…

I have a gay Republican friend, and he’s more insufferable than most right-wingers. He actually bashes gays! He thinks they should all be more like him – unmarried and promiscuous.

That might have been out of the same ‘newspaper’ I saw the other day while waiting in line at the 7-Eleven.

Turns out Dick Cheney is a robot! And they had a picture to prove it so it must be true.

robert, what kinda responses do you get when you stop somebody mid-gaybash and tell them to shut up cuz your brother is gay? like, what’s the ratio of people apologizing vs. people continuing on?

I always try the soft approach.

I usually just say I have a gay brother and have watched the problems he’s had being openly gay since 1965, or something like that. I make it personal to me. That usually ends the conversation. I see no sense in castigating people over it because it is people who are intolerant who actually breed tolerance. The negative reaction to their words and behavior-sort of like those who hate Jews-is a very powerful antidote.

However, in 1966, we had a very bad incident in Ohio where a guy pulled a knife and threatened us. Richard, my brother, took off running (wisely), and I just stood there with my arms folded sort of dumbfounded. I had just gotten out of the Marine Corps and still thought I was, er, well, tougher than I ever was. The guy was swearing a blue streak at me and waving the knife when the police drove up. HE then took off running. Also, Richard has been actually stabbed twice and once I had to take him to the hospital after he had his arm broken. He’s now in San Diego and is HEALTHY, thank GOD.

I can see it now…Rush and Barney Frank, arm in arm, exhorting the faithful at a John Kerry fund raiser

It’s a big contraversy up here in Canada as the government seems that they may be willing to recognize gay marriages. I’m not anti-gay or homophobic but do have a bit of hard time thinking of two gays or lesbians as being legitimate “family”. Also as someone who has been through all the legalities of a divorce I don’t know why they would want it. You’ll then see gay break ups being contested with all the bitterness of heterosexual divorces, probably even worse since many if not most gay unions simply don’t last until death do us part. The lawyers will love it.

Weiwentg. I’m not sure where you are getting your information but there has NEVER been a study that has proven a child is better off being raised by 2 men or 2 women, than by a man and a woman. Part of the problem is that it is a relatively new phenomenon but they will never prove it anyway.

A father and a mother offer many different things to a child, something 2 men and 2 women cannot, regardless of how the gay movement wants to blur this issue.

I could really care less if they want to express their undying love by living together for life, and they can call it anything they want, but it is not a marriage. A kindergarten child can tell you the definition of a marriage. They may also make good parents BUT for a child needs a man and a woman in their life.
