Actually, this is a good trivia question: the only state in the U.S. with a pennant shaped flag - Ohio. The rest (like most) are all rectangles.

There are 44 States. Mass, PA and VA are Commonwealths; Texas & California are annexed Republics and Hawaii is an illegally annexed Kingdom.
