Ot: pet hair vacuum doohickey

my sis just sent me a mail saying she wants this: http://www.buypetbuddy.ca

anybody tried this?

quite frankly its just a canister you can attach to your vacuum, but I know her cats are a bit skiddish around the vacuum. (noise?) It reminds me of those infomercials with the hair clippers attached to a vacuum… heck this thing doesn’t even include a vacuum. I’d rather just get her another hand vac and see if the cats run away…

I bought a remanufactured Dyson, not the pet hair one, but the yellow cheapest one. I brush my long haired cat twice a day in the summer. She loves it and it makes her feel cooler when the shedding hair is gently brushed off. It also makes her look beautiful and I think she likes that.

My experience has been that if you brush your cat (assuming you have a cat) enough and vacuum about once every two days you might be OK.

I do still have cat hair on my clothes but I don’t care too much. I like my cat.

You can also take the appraoch Sheila Taormina did and get those hairless cats. She had two of them at one point. They were slinky. She brought them in the store and a female customer discovered one lurking behind a helmet dispaly and she basically freaked, “Oh God, OH GOD! There is a lizard thing or a burned cat trapped back here!”

I vacuum my dog all the time. He loves it. The cats are not so fond of the vacuum, however.

Oh man, you’re right. That would never work. When the vacuum goes on the cats act like a bunch of scientists at an above ground nuclear test. They vanish.

Cats don’t like the vacuum cleaner. It is their Chernobyl.

Don’t waste your money. Using a standard vacuum attachment and a brush will do the same. I don’t know how your cats will take to the vacuum noise however.

I use a professional dog “blower”. Which works the same as a vacuum in reverse. With a brush and the forced air I can get the majority of loose hair off my very hairy dogs when they shed out. They actually like it. Feels like a massage I guess.

Some dog/cats just shed all the time. Especially short coated breeds like Labs, Dalmations, Dobermans. It’s a never ending battle. At least my fluffy dogs only shed once a year when they “blow” coat. A couple of weeks and it’s over.

no hairless cats. My sister loves her fatties, I guess she could just do with less hair. Come to think of it, the cats hate the hair dryer too so I don’t know about this hair “blower” either…

The pet blowers are expensive and noisy. Try using a standard hair dryer with a no heat setting and see how your cats react.

My daughter had one of those Sphinx (hairless cats). A real PIA. High strung like a purebred Siamese.

Don’t get pet blower, they are outdated already. Search for a good pet vacuum does the job whether handheld or canister/upright, they are amazing right now.
