OT: mtb question

I have been thinking of getting a nicer mtb than my police auction special for a while (after all look where I’m living, close to the North Shore and all that) and I might have found a reasonable deal on a 2005 Norco Six, does anybody here know much about this bike? any opinions pro/con?

I would use it for a bit of everything, as although I do enjoy x-country quite a bit, some of my friends are really into downhill and would definitely want me to join them.

Also, given that I don’t know much about mtbs, what should I be looking for in terms of “obvious signs of abuse, pass”? I’ve heard that Norco bikes fit a bit big, so a M would be best for me (ride a 56-58 road frame depending) vs a L.

Post this in mtbreview.com, and you’ll get a ton of responses.

I’m more of a Kona person so I can’t answer any questions about Norcos but this should help:

And like the other poster said, go to the www.MTBR.com, www.ridemonkey.com or www.pinkbike.com forums and you should get some good answers to your questions…

Getting Mountain Bike advice from MTBR.com is roughly equivalent to getting sex-ed info from the boys locker room in junior high.

Nobody there has actually taken the object in question for a ride…

but they sure can talk about it…

And that’s different than here?

Oh man, it’s not even close…
