OT: More migraine stuff

Continuing on the occasional migraine topic around here… I have some great news (for me anyway)

Background: I have “classic migraine” just like my Mom always has had. Visual aura preceeds massive headache with all sorts of other physical symptoms from head to bladder. After spending 8 months under the care of a “headache specialist” and going through several unfruitful treatments including calcium channel and beta blockers, I was still suffering. They did introduce me to a remedy “Relpax” which worked great, but it did not prevent them, but it was very successful at stopping them when they occured. But I was getting them for 8-10 days in a row and Relpax is to be used only once or twice a month.

OK - so in the meantime I go see my general practicioner over a really nasty boil I had. We talked about my headaches and sinus pain and he wondered if I didn’t have some sort of infection that was causing them even though no normal symptoms were present. He took a culture and found a staph colonization (I reported that here).

So he dosed me with a strong antibiotic to kill it. I think it was called “Tequin”.

NO MORE MIGRAINES. Not even one! Been a month without a headache, I wasn’t even lasting 3 days before. I can’t tell you how nice it is to live without constant fear of debilitating headaches. Hope it lasts!

If any of you medical types who would like to comment on this I would surely appreciate it. Placebo effect? Can a staph colonization thats giving me sinus pressure but no other typical symptoms (drainage for one) cause me to have such massive head problems?
