OT: I need an athletic car

So, on July 4th about 2 a.m. I got a knock on the door…the police.

“Ma’am, you car has been hit, here is the police report number.”

I found out today my car was totaled. Of course the guy who hit me left the scene, leaving his car…As I was surveying the damage in the middle of the night, and the cops were impounding his car, the idiot who demolished my car came back and they charged him with hit and run. Of course he has no insurance.

So, I need to buy a used car. If anyone out there in slowtwitch land knows someone in and around California who is selling their car that is suitable for an triathlete (i.e. a bunch of gear) please PM me.

I could probably swing around 7-8K.

My car was paid off so, this really sucks.

Thanks in advance,

Trisha

p.s. I could throw in some powercranks to sweeten the deal.

Anyone want to TSR a car?

OK, color me an dope, but what is TSR?

I’ve got a '76 Honda Civic CVCC Wagon I could sell you for a lot less than 7-8K. With the rear seat folded down it fits a bike with the front wheel off plus a lot of other goodies. Good fun, very clean interior, CD player, gets just north of 30mpg, insurance is dirt cheap, doesn’t need to be smogged, registration is next to nothing, etc. Just thought I’d throw this out there, although I’d put the odds at about 1:10,000 you’d be interested.

Getting rid of it, possibly, because I recently bought a new Subaru when I moved to the mountains. Keeping it, possibly, because having it down as my primary car saves me insurance money overall.

I saw a Range Rover Discovery on Craigslist the other day, 65,000 miles $7,800. Looked like a nice deal if its a sound car.

Don’t bother. I had one and they suck. For an SUV, they are too small, have no power and absolutely devour gas. Other than that, it was great

Yeah Record, I need you to TSR that AMG S55 to me and in turn I will be the TSR support car/driver.

try a civic which is great for gas mileage and spend the extra on a thule criterium roof rack which keeps the bike safe and plenty room for gear and people … contrary to most SUVs I can fit 4 bikes and 4 people plus gear into my car that way for races

thanks…good to know…

I have a trunk rack from my former smashed car…at least that was not damaged!

My rental right now is a Suburu Outback Legacy…sure is spiffy. A little too many bells and whistles for an tri gal like me.

For just a couple thou more, you could get a basic 2WD pickup truck with no bells or whistles, new. Still the perfect vehicle for carrying junk, IMO.

Nissan/Toyota 2wd pickups run forever.
Isuzus don’t. Especially if you have a teenage son. ARRRGGHHHH.

How about a Rodeo?

Have to relearn how to drive in the rain, though.

S55? Um, I have a C

FWIW - Get yourself a used Toyota 4Runner and forget about repairs/problems for the life of the truck. 1996 or newer 4Runner will last for 250,000 miles.

The rear seats go down, the rear window goes down…simply a perfect car for an active lifestyle.

A tad more than your budget, but you must factor in repair into the equation.

Good luck.
