I am looking for an inexpensive laptop PC. I am clueless about the current technology…my old laptop is from 1997. I will use it only for internet(would like WiFi), Word, Excel…maybe watch a DVD…
Any recommendations??? What about Dell???
Thanks,
HC
I LOVE my iBook. Nary a problem, just brought it home, turned it on and it found our wireless connection and I was off. More than I can say about my parents’ Dell. Got it at Christmas from my brother and they are still having problems with it.
I forgot to mention that my home computer is an iMac…but in the office we use PC’s(we have a WiFi electronic medical record system and use Fujitsu Lifebooks). I like the Mac…it still has some issues w/ software compatibility…often run into “not available for Mac” taglines on interesting software. I was just thinking of going PC for the laptop…i don’t know…
I’m eligible for a discount on Lenovo (Formerly IBM) Thinkpads - most of the deals are pretty good and are ~$1000. If you are interested PM me and I’ll zap you the newest employee purchase plan info.
Keep in mind that Thinkpads are expensive to start so you’ll be paying what a Dell would cost. I venture to say that the Thinkpad t-series is the best Windows-based laptop available. I love my T42, and few people have anything bad to say about the current crop of T-series.
