OT - hello laziness

or Bonjour Paresse (original title)…

ok…be honest…who recognizes himself/herself in this??

“Ms Maier, who works just 2 ½ days a week, is hardly unusual. The average French worker clocks only 1,459 hours per year, compared with a mean of 1,762 for the OECD as a whole and almost 2,000 for the Stakhanovites in the Czech Republic.”

1459 hours divided by 52 weeks equals just over 28 hours per week. Let’s say there’s 2 weeks of “vacation” (which sounds like is really every week in Europe), we go to just over 29 hours per week.

No wonder we hate the French.

This was on 20/20 or nightline or one of those “news” shows a few nights back.

They went back and forth comparing Euro workers to Americans. interesting, but what it really illustrated to me is that most people “settle”. You settle for a job you hate (for all the reasons we all do) and then you don’t want to work it. And most people seem content just to sit where they are because actually changing things is too damn hard.

Hmm… starting to go off the deep end - should probably go eat dinner.
