Took my future father in law out for a beer last night to give him the low down, and make sure my plans met with his approval. No worries, he was really happy for us!

That is really cool. I did the same thing with my FIL, even though my wife and I had both been previously married. The gesture was really appreciated and gets brought up a lot when the families are together. Way to go, good luck with the next one.
