Looking at Fireface’s “Don’t bogart the EPO…” Thread, I wonder about the origin of the term “Bogart” to describe selfish or stingy behavior?
There’s the Little Feat song “Don’t Bogart That Joint” and when I was a kid drinking Jack Daniel’s and Colt 45 underneath the bleachers at Thousand Oaks High School, If you didn’t pass the bottle around, you were a “Fvcking Bogart!!”
Anyone know?

1969, “to keep a joint in your mouth,” dangling from the lip like Humphrey Bogart’s cigarette in the old movies, instead of passing it on. First attested in “Easy Rider.” The word was also used 1960s with notions of “get something by intimidation, be a tough guy.”
