Anyone else aghast that, to buy the “Die Another Day” DVD you have to buy the $100 boxed set?
Oh well, it "forced me to watch Thunderball again, and the others too.

Does the box set force you to buy “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”? If so, the box set is stricken from my Christmas gift list. What utter tripe that film is.
Unfortunately that is included in the “Die Another Day” set. It is part of Bond history. A somewhat regretable part. It’s not as bad as “Moonraker” or “Octopussy”. I think those were duds.
“Thunderball” is, however, a cinematic tour de force.
There. Have I redeemed myself from last week’s raves about “Titanic”?

I liked Titanic* too.*
I am absolutely with you on choices of Bond: Connery, Brosnan, Moore in that order.
Connery in Thunderball is the quintiscential “Bond”. It was before the character started to become more “cartoonized”.
Also, “Thunderball” was good writing, especially for the time.
I’ll respectfully disagree with you on that assertion. “Moonraker” and “Octopussy”, while at times being borderline satirical, at least have decent technical merits.
Aside from Lazenby’s deplorable Bond, “OHMSS” has some of the worst editing and overall crap production values I’ve ever seen.
I actually once saw a comment somewhere where the writer contended that Lazenby was the BEST Bond. Whatever he’s smoking, I’ll have some too, please.
Connery, hands down.
I say, forget Colin Firth and Ewan MacGregor and whomever else they’re considering. Bring back Sean Connery. He still kicks ass.
Some guy told me that Ian Fleming liked Lazerby becasue he most resembled Patrick Dizeal-Job (however you spell it), the real “James Bond”, or, more accurately, the character upon whom Fleming’s “Bond” is based.
I agree with your assesment of Lazerby, but am not a big fan of “Octopussy” or “Moonraker”. Although the crystal/glass museum fight in “Moonraker” is killer.
I will agree that Connery was the best Bond ever. However, Roger Moore said the line “My name is Bond, James Bond” better than anyone else. That doesn’t excuse the rest of his performance of course.
You know, this thread comes up about every six months. It’s interesting how popular Bond is among some ST’ers.
From Russia with Love. Truly epic Bond.
And Goldfinger is pretty mean also. For the modern ones, Goldeneye was not too bad.
Yes, you’re in much better standing now.
i’m a bond lover to heart but Denise Richards as a nuclear physicst? c’mon? she is many things but a nuke doc. she looked great though and connery was the best hands down.
Who was the best Bond girl then?
Jane Seymour in Live and Let Die was pretty special, or Famke Jensen in Goldeneye. The English girl in the latest Bond (the one set in Iceland?), was it Rosamond Pike? She had something.
Geez, I gotta go with Denise Richards. So yummy. That green dress looked killer at the end of… which one was that?
Is it true that Colin Ferrell is the next Bond? If so, count me in as a new Bond fan.
yes, very nice.
How about the cat fight scene towards the beginning of From Russia with Love? For the times, pretty fantastic stuff.
But Denise Richards is a remarkable girl, whichever way you look at it.
i know i’m dating myself here but Ursula Andress. yes i know the movie came out a few years bfore i was an itch in my daddy’s pants but she was sooooooo hot coming out of the water in dr. no, no?
it was ursula that i’m thinking about right?
Dr No, yes.
How about Pussy Galore in Goldfinger. Not a finer pilot will you see, sir, I’ll be bound.
