OT - Blackberry at Wildflower

I know cell coverage at Wildflower is really bad - but has anyone checked out the email abilities. I need to commmunicate with a couple of people at Wildflower before the race and I was hoping I could do it through Email.

Given that Cathy is doing that race, I’m pretty sure there’s Blackberry coverage…

we do fine there with verizon

“we do fine there with verizon”

That is good news! My old carrier, ATT wasn’t very good there. Between my Verizon cell and my Tmobile BB, I hope I am covered.

I close on my house the Monday after Wildflower and my agent is really nervous that I’ll be away that weekend possibly without phone coverage…I’m bringing 3 phones, my Blackberry and a few carrier pigeons just in case.

I was down there a few weeks ago and I could get a couple of bars on Sprint.

Is it essential communication?

I travelled to Chicago recently for business. The fight to/from chicago must have been filled with real brain surgeons who needed to be consulted minute to minute about life and death issues,or the flight was full of CEO’s of a very large companies dealing with critical, minute to minute issues. It was an extraordinary experience. The flight attendants actually had to tell several guys to get off the cell phones as the plane was pulling away from the gate!

Typically, when I travel, I like to wait in the departure lounge, do a little reading or chat with other travellers learing about other peoples lives and stories. Doing either this trip was next to impossible as all these brain surgeons/CEO’s were talking on their cell phones or Blackberries non-stop. This cell-phone/Blackberry reverie started up again as soon as the planes doors opened. What’s with that?

Always keep in mind that peoples work varies from person to person. Their needs to communicate while traveling varies as well. I travel a great deal and at times there are immediate chances for me to effect my companies bottom line. If I’m traveling for personal reasons I generally leave it off or at least the urgency to communicate is diminished.

Love ya Paulo.

Actually, T-Mobile BB does NOT work there I hear. I’ve not been there since I got the BB, so I may have to go cold turkey, or at least drive back to where I can get a few bars.

And note to Fleck: They aren’t called CrackBerries for no reason.

I don’t think anyone’s business is so important that it justifies disrupting and jeopadizing others around you in an already cramped plane with people waiting to take off, get on, off, or unload luggage from the bin. The phone conversation can wait until you get to the end of the unloading ramp.

I highly doubt your bottom line was or will be affected by waiting another 5 minutes or so to make a phone call.

Common courtesy and professionalism is lost among those who have their phones plastered to their ears in such circumstances. If you’re that important you should charter your own plane or buy a jet.

I (actually my client) paid $1000 for that seat right next to your $199 seat. Just put some headphones on and sit back and enjoy the cheap airfare we’re subsidizing

Showing off how much you overpay for a ticket doesn’t make you any more important than the rest of us…You’re still sitting in coach looking like an idiot talking on your phone.

I have Verizon cell service and last year it worked perfectly.

I was able to dial out and receive calls all weekend long.

Good luck!
