Possible labral tear in my hip and or FAI- Femoroacetabular impingement. I have been battling a tight hip and pain in the hip for two months now. Seems like it will loosen up I have a few good days of training and then right back to trouble. I have done an MRI with Cortizone injection and a xray which all show a possible tear and a FAI. But my symtoms don’t really show that result. At times they do at times they do not like I will have groin pain then I won’t I do not understand. Seems like TIME off stretching and massage will calm down the hip but then after a few days of training i am back to pain all over the place. I am taking Mobic (anti inflamatory) one to two a day. Part of me thinks I am masking my symptoms. Been to the PT three times a week since the beiging of this problem and massage The Groin pain went away after the injection or I did not notice it as much but now it is back. Any advice out there?

My MRI did have the contrast dye in it.
have you actually taken any real time off? if not, i would really think about doing that, or confining your activity to stuff that causes NO symptoms. the surgery (and the diagnosis) are very new and results are not that consistent yet in most hands; if your surgeon is a skilled (has done MANY) hip arthroscopist and feels surgery is indicated, it’s something to consider; if your surgeon has only done a couple or is so-so about operating, i would strongly recommend giving it 6-8wks of not doing anything and then gradually getting back to activity; if pt/stretching help, keep doing them. the mobic is more effective if you take it as directed, rather than as needed, but that;s up to you. not a fun problem to deal with; good luck.
Thank you so much for your reply. I can not get any answers down here.
I have taken real time off multiple times of 5-14 days at a time. The only reason I started back was on the ortho’s Dr’s orders to train light to see what effects came out. Mobic is effective if I take it for 10 or more days right? I am pretty sure my ortho is good it seems impossible to get in with the nashville doc or the Marc guy in vail. What I can’t figure out is if my MRI shows a tear (small) and my xray show FAI then why do my symptoms not seem to go with that? By the way driving a car seems to cause the most problems. Strangest part to all this is the first time I had the problem I took off 5 days skipped a race had a aggresive massage with lots of arterior stretching and was back to training full speed with 24 hours of massage no problems no PAIN. The second and third time this stopped me nothing seems to work.
