Looking at succumbing to buying a durable set of clincher wheels. I have heard some positive comments about Easton EA90 SLX wheels and the price point for the set is decent. Anyone on this board have experience riding them? Looking for opinions on ride, durability and longevity of this wheelset.
Thank you, in advance,
Raysr
Ride great, look VERY nice, great price/performance point (just under 1400g with hybrid ceramic bearings). Can’t comment on durability directly, but my roadie “sprinter” team mate has been running them all season, goes 180 lbs, and just crashed in a pack on Sunday pretty hard and the wheels are perfect ![]()
They’re a little expensive, but honestly, the best wheels I’ve ever owned. I wish I’d bought two pairs. I’ve put about 4000 miles on them, and they’re still true and roll smooth like butter. My mech did some hub work recently, because there was some in-out play on the cassette. I’m 145 lbs, so I don’t put a lot of stress on them, but they’re light enough enough that I can’t tell the difference weight-wise between my Easton EC90 Aero tubulars and these.
Overall, awesome wheels. I would buy them again, and maybe even again. They’re great. I don’t know if they offer one, but try to get a stealth flange on your freehub. It’s worth the 20g or so. I ride mine throughout the mountains of Colorado, and I came to rely upon them on my weekly 100 mile, 10,000 vertical foot deathmarch over the summer.
Man, some great reviews, sounds like they are great all a rounders. Almost sold on them, any one else have experience?
Thanks, it is appreciated,
Raysr
i’m looking to purchase the 09’s - even lighter than last years w/ ceramic and red nipples. i’ve had great experience with easton wheels on my current tri bike. did you finally end up getting them and if so how have they been?
If you get them right now, Easton is running a deal where you get a free helmet from Bell or Giro for purchasing any wheelset.
Here is a link to the program
Haven’t got the wheels yet, the local shop was out of stock. Now that there is that great deal with the helmet pitch, I’m glad I waited. I’ll update after I have bought and ridden them for a while.
Thanks,
Raysr
