Any disc will give you about 30 seconds over 40 kms over a regular 32 spoke wheel.
Kraig Willet tested a CH Aero cover against a Zipp disc in a wind tunnel and the results are on his pay site with a bunch of other wind tunnel tests for $14.95.
Very simple to mount. They come with some screw/sleeve mechanisms that insert into the pre drilled holes around the outer circumference of the disc covers. Makes a very secure fit. When I trimmed it to fit my Hed Jet 60 I had to redrill new holes. I can put my covers on/off in a few minutes, but you have to remove the cassette, so the appropriate cassette removal tool is an asset.
thanks a lot. so the two halves of the cover essentially screw onto each other to create tension on the wheel? No bolting onto the actual rim or spokes?

Correct.
They mount on the wheel with 8 or so plastic screws that go around the outer edge. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes, including removing the cassette.
By the way, don’t believe the “only for 700c” line on Excel Sports’ page. I’ve got one on my 650.
Really? That’s the reason I went and made a mylar one. Did you have to cut it down?
Rich at wheelbuilder trimmed it to fit the wheel I bought from him: 650c Mavic CXP33 laced to a PT SL.
You can see the plastic screw/sleeves that hold the disk in place.
Rich did a great job trimming it to fit the PT.

For $60 you can get thr same aero benefit as the “big dog discs”. I’ve ridden several sub 1 hour 40ks on it and also some pretty fast half iron splits. It’s worth it. Just keep it clean, I only use mine for racing so that helps.
