Opinions-- deal or no deal?

I’ve been looking for a fixie on which to torture my legs and put myself in harm’s way in traffic. What do you think of this one?

NEW 2007 TRACK ROAD RACING BIKE FIXIE - SAVE OVER 50%

I had one of the same make back in my velo days, but I have been out of that loop (no pun intended) for quite some time.

Thanks!

You could also just get it directly from the wholesaler here http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/thehour.htm for the same price (free shipping from Bikes Direct).

I bought a bike from them and have had no problems.
Also, this company basically bought a lot of old brands and now manufactures bikes under those names in China. Of course, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the bikes. I happen to think they’re the best deals around for a second bike (for a primary race bike fit is too important and you just can’t be sure about that over the internet). Usually the components alone are worth the asking price.

I forgot the new rules of ST, i.e. that a “minor” player on the furum needs to reply to his/her own post with an “anyone?” before there are replies.

(Keyboard ahem) Anyone?

We were typing at the same time. Thanks.

No, no, No! Find yourself a late 80s San Rensho with some aggressive drop Nitto bars. If you can’t find a Rensho you go for a Cinelli. With a fixie you need one that all the kiddies look at and say “damn.” Just my opinion.

This site has some way cool fixie rides:

look closely…bikesdirect IS the eBay seller. also, the eBay price is $259+40 shipping. the bikesdirect web price is $299 w/ free shipping. I’d go with the eBay deal and have the protections offered, just for peace of mind.

I saw the prices were the same, that’s why I noted it. And it’s funny, because my experiences with ebay would lead me to want to buy through the wholesaler site. Guess it really doesn’t make a difference though.

I agree with you, but I don’t have the time/space to undertake the project. If I still had my Windsor from the late 70’s early 80’s would all the kiddies still say “Wow!”? OK, I already know the answer: not the same panache as a Cinelli or San Rensho.

I’m not familiar with a Windsor but it obviously meant something to you. So it might be cool to get one and re-live the day. My dad rode a Mondia road bike in the early 80s. This bike was stolen. He never stopped talking about how he loved that bike so I talked him into buying another one recently. There is nothing wrong with having a reminder of your glory days.

Impress the kiddies with your track stand instead!

A track stand will do it every time! I’m not going to relive glory days. Every day is a glory day, but I will admit that I admire your carefully crafted opinions!
