Online stand alone marathon training resources

Anyone have links to good articles or “12 weeks to a x:xx marathon” type training resources?

Something geared toward someone who has done half a dozen marathons, has a solid aerobic base and/or wants to be 3:30-3:40 would be ideal.

does it have to be 12 weeks?

Hal Higdon has some good programs for varying levels

www.halhigdon.com

I also think yassoo (sp?) 800s are good

Hope this helps

Coolrunning has some too for various levels http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_4/143.shtml
.

Here are two:

Pete Pfitzinger: http://www.pfitzinger.com/labreport.shtml

Runner’s World: http://www.runnersworld.com/home/0,1300,1-51-56,FF.html?site=RunnersWorld

I’d also recommend buying: Pfitzinger’s “Advanced Marathoning”, or Jack Daniels’ “Running Formula”, or Jeff Galloway’s “Book on Running” (pre- walk break phase).

I’ll second the Hal Higdon program (haven’t tried the others)
.

Thanks for all the responses. Lots of good stuff there.

I’ll second the Hal Higdon program - it got me to a 3:35 at Portland last year.

I ran a 4:45 the year before at the Seattle Marathon (albeit with a stress fracture in my right foot - because I followed my own radical training plan and hurt myself).

I’m following Hal’s Intermediate 1/2 Marathon program right now in my build-up for WTH and then I’ll follow it again in my build-up for the mid-season and then switch to his Advanced I Marathon plan for the California International Marathon in December.

Ditto on the Yassos - those are great speed builders for marathon distance. If they aren’t in Hal’s program, do a search on them at runnersworld.com.

Try www.LetsRun.com, they have a LOT of good training articles and links.

I just finished using Hal Higdon’s program and thought it was great…very easy to understand and well organized.
