Online Bike Stores

Hello large, vast, wise body of people that is Slowtwitch,
I was wondering what online bike stores people over here have had good expirences with, and what ones we have not. If there’s already a thread on this, just point me over. It’s just whenever I’m about to spend money I want to know if I’m getting ripped off it not. Or this just turns into a resource for anyone else wanting to know.
Thanks in advance, TriathlonKid.

Wiggle

Chain Reaction Cycles

Probikekit

All are UK and are pretty good. Many well known US based seem to be more expensive.

But there are some great US-based bike shops. I guess it depends what you buy. I have had great experiences buying bike things from:

  • Ben’s Cycle
  • Bike Tires Direct (sells MUCH more than tires despite the name) in Portland
  • Discount Tri Supply (always free shipping)
  • Jenson USA (great return policy)
  • Art’s Cyclery

Excel Sports. Based in Boulder.

Bicycle Outfitters Indy
Decades of experience in brick and mortar shops and excellent service/pricing/variety in the online world.
BMC, Felt, Fuji, Jamis, etc

I highly recommend them. They have a killer deal on Cycletek trainers this month.

JensonUSA has good prices and shipping is always free over $50.

Pricepoint is good. So is Universal Cycles.

I’ll add to the list:

http://worldclasscycles.com/ Roger there has always been great. I discovered them way back when I had to source 26" tubies.

Nashbar has generally got some decent deals. Probike Kit and Wiggle are both very good. I have twice had issues with what was shipped to me via ProBikeKit, and both times the issue was sorted out within 24 hours.

That being said I tend to only buy items that I can deal with myself from online and buy stuff local that I can’t deal with so the LBS will help me out (like Bottom Brackets, headsets etc…).

I was really happy with The Tri Shop. Great prices during the holidays and really quick shipping. Low enough on the prices where I could use the item for a while to see if I liked it, then resell it at the used market value and still make a profit.
