Summary of this thread will be that whoever likes one or the other more will defend that one more. I dislike what Jack is doing with his podcast, and how he talks about athletes, and have some non-podcast issues with the some PTN people. I still listen to PTN. I stopped listening to TTH. The end result is still that no one cares and the world hasn’t stopped spinning.

Frankly, I hope this thread will just die.
I have no idea why @The Nonce felt this worth poking.
@JackKelly-TTH has made some great pods but this chat stuff has seen them go downhill. He’s also made choices which a proportion (who knows whether the majority or a minority) think dubious. I hope athletes consider the past and think before they speak to him.
@talbotcox is an established maker of excellent videos. And has a developed intelligence network across long distance triathlon. I reckon his mastery of nuanced and/or inane comments, both verbal and on SM comes naturally. Those without a sense of humour will often either not appreciate them as such or get the wrong end of the stick, though.
If it won’t die “move to the Jake Kelly fan page thread”.
Whose side? Neither, they are both a joke and will do anything for clickbait.
When they add Pat and Mark into the mix they are cringeworthy.

What I find most interesting about this is that our pro athletes are so vanilla and loving of each other we have to go to 2 podcasters to find any drama in our sport.
Paula was talking about how nice everyone is on this weeks TTL podcast (yes @NickGoldston some people on ST absolutely are fans of the pod lol). I think it’s great that so many of the pros are just wonderful people and it does have a positive to the sport, but I also think there is the drawback that sports are enhanced by rivalry. It gives fans something to talk about during the natural lulls in the season/year. We need some chippiness from our pros so fans can stop trying to manufacture it between podcasters

i get warned by that garbage sweeper or dad when i start mouthing off about the northern europeans having red neck from all the whale juices they had as a kid. the hypocrisy. need an investigation.
Heaven fuck forbid that we don’t do doping accusations without actual evidence.
That’s been a bright line rule around here for 25 years. That ain’t changing anytime soon.

No we don’t. Save all that crap for the NBA/NFL etc, it’s cringe, it’s classless and to not have it in tri speaks volumes about the calibre of people in our sport.

I wouldn’t consider Mark Allan vs Dave Scott super cringe. Nor do I think AB was a classless bloke. The German rivalry between Jan and Patrick wasn’t total trash.

No idea about whats going on, as dont listen to any of their podcasts or follow them etc, ill pick the side that the majority of ST isn’t picking through!

I genuinely think they were just laughing at it, and joking about how irrelevant it really is, vs Jacks public dejection of the Lucy block. Didn’t see anything wrong with the joke.
Jack Kelly being a fool again dedicating his latest Pod to KB’s weight.
The problem with doing an hourly podcast everyday until Nice is that there’s really not much to talk about after covering each contender’s lead up. Talk of training, race weight, or even mentality will just be speculative unless it comes directly from the athlete.

Yep, TTH has a tendency to engage in speculation and what-ifs that are honestly quite boring, and this tendency comes and goes across episodes. Gets really hot & cold in that way.

I know Jack personally. He is a good guy. He does not always have a filter which is entertaining. We are coming to a point where society gets offended by everything. The podcasts are getting boring & lack charisma + humour because everyone is scared of saying the wrong things. If it is your job to do podcasts, you should be able to discuss to hard topics too.
