I have to say I find Jack Kelly pretty cringe on his podcast sometimes. It’s like he wants to be edgy and funny and also politically correct at the same time. Like you want to say stuff to get you blocked by Lucy Charles, but then apologize way too profusely for it later. Stick to your guns.
In some circumstances he is bullheaded ready to break the controversy, like the Imogen Simmonds thing. But then he backtracks and glazes (disgustingly) his detractors. They don’t want to be your bros, bro.
In other situations he won’t even talk about what everyone is thinking about, like the fact that Kristian Blummenfelt is obscenely skinny almost malnourished looking and just as powerful as ever. Oh we don’t want to talk about body weight in terms of performance on this podcast? What sport is this?
The latest thing is this interaction on the Portuguese doper on thetriathlonhour Instagram where Talbot Cox makes a comment sarcastically that Jack Kelly misinterprets (probably intentionally) as serious, and these guys go back and forth. There are legitimately like two podcasts covering this stuff and the corpa seem to hate each other, probably for good reason. Jack Kelly annoys me. He strikes me as super fake.
That’s not controversial enough. The mob and pitchforks crowd really wants to know more about what the the ancestors of Frodeno and Lange were up to 80 years ago.
What’s the point of tagging Jack? He’s going to come on here with an answer that smacks of a PR firm but with none of the polish and all of the obsequiousness towards the people he knows are reading it. Forget that I don’t find him genuine. I like Kyle Glass attitude how he shows up and delivers facts when you people try to stare him down.
Pick your fights/arguments. Sometimes it’s best to not hit the reply button. Both sides should practice this more. People are smart enough to pick up on things on their own. No need to always bring it to light.
Seems like much less work for you. And also a way to avoid being mean to someone from the comfort of your keyboard. If Jack - or anyone for that matter - were standing in front of you…would you say this to their face?
No this is part of why slowtwitch sucks: the same 7 people want to talk to each other on epic length threads without getting to the meat of the matter or splitting off the meat when it matters.
That thread on the KQ system was really brilliant until I couldn’t commit an entire work day to listening to the bickering between a handful of people and had to have AI sample out what was important. You know what would be good for people? A thread on what that thread contained.
Maybe I’ll start it: Here’s what we know about the new KQ system!
As cringe as you might find Jack, he’s the only one with any real talent between the two of them. The other guy is a lifelong jock sniffer desperate for relevancy with an incredibly fragile ego. A-6-year old could film Lionel’s monologues and get thousands of views, and we have a guy with a camera carrying himself like he’s triathlon royalty.
I don’t know, but I find it funny every time Talbot mentions in each episode how good it is that PTN comes in to the actual venues to cover the races instead of just posting/watching from a couch.
It’s jusy silly that we have to talk about a beef from a bunch of dudes who talk about triathlon.
Jack has aired his side in a long monologue before. Maybe @talbotcox can clarify here when the animosity started for some clarity. You’ve been in his podcast a few times in the past. Even Pat is openly hostile (check his comment on Jack’s recent doping news post).
yes i think nobody needs to blow up the egos of those guys anymore …
in a way its funny that there is jack or talbot fans since both play the same click game.
and lets be fair both work hard to be were they are . and while annoying at times ,because they try too hard, they are very good at what they do.
