On Sunday, October 17, at 3 p.m. EDT, OLN will air the 2004 ITU World Triathlon Championship. The race didn’t get much coverage in the western hemisphere, but produced one of the great individual performances in the short history of our sport (Sheila T. going solo for nearly the entire distance - in a draft-legal format - to defeat a very strong field). The program will be shown again at noon EDT on Tuesday, October 19.
I’ve got a great photo of her finish, but have been unsuccessful in loading it into this post. So I’ve posted it on our website, if anyone is interested: www.cooltri.com/sheila.htm
You bet I will be watching. Go Sheila. I am a fellow Michigander. I Tivoed the entire ITU series and my son and have watched them all. Luv it. The ITU format is great. I would love to try an ITU race - but wouldn’t even know where to find one. It would be great to have a pack of bikers help me to get closer to the front 'cause I can’t swim.
Please don’t start a ITU v. USAT debate - I don’t want to be responsible for that!
thanks for letting us know. i’ll make sure i remember to tape it. do you know if it’ll cover both men’s and women’s races, and how long the coverage will be?
Thanks for putting it up. I tried it on my mac OX-10 and couldn’t get to first base. Then I used my wife’s powerhouse pc, but all we could get into the post was that symbol for a photo with an orangish/red something with a box of dashed lines around the outside. I see from other threads that I’m not the only one afflicted by these gremlins - but do you have any practical suggestions for the next time I try this? Or do I just hire you as my photo editor?
It is a very sophisicated computer science model I have. It is called (write this down) copy and paste. I copied from your website and pasted here. All done from my mouse (right button).
What about the sprint at the end of the men’s race. The New Zealander slaps the other guy (sorry I dont know names) and then about ten seconds later, they sprint full speed over the last fifty yards to the finish. I have never seen such an ending.
