One more Wildflower Q: Gatorade or Gatorade Endurance?

The race site says “Gatorade” is what they’re serving. A friend of mine who did the official training camp a month ago was handed packets of Gatorade Endurance and told this is what they’d be serving.

Anyone know for sure? I haven’t trained with good ole’ 7-11 style Gatorade for a long time. If it’s the plain kind, do you add anything to it (eg. CarboPro or similar). Thanks!

It was for this reason that a couple years ago I quit using anything but water for hydration. Best thing I ever did. I can always get it and it’s the same everywhere I go. I get my calories and electrolytes from gels, bars, and electrolyte pills. It makes nutrition simple and exact.

tastes better too.

Hmm…I started doing much longer bike rides about 8-9 months ago and was initially doing just gels and water. 2 gels an hour. I found I was stomach-growling hungry during the ride (and I am not a big person). Increasing the food I ate beforehand still didn’t do it, so I’ve gotten used to sports drink (tho’ not Gatorade - I usually use Extran or Gu2O, but I do like the new Endurance Gatorade).

I don’t want to try changing back to water only one week out from Wildflower. Guess I’ll just plan for both possibilities.

Gotta eat some real food during your rides. Have some PowerBars or something similar. The protein, vitamins and minerals in 'em will do you good.

The only difference is that the Endurance formula has more sodium/potassium which at Wildflower cannot hurt. Calorie wise they are the same.
