Assuming we all get some sort of triathlon publication. I must ask.
If you could get one and only one tri magazine from here on out, which one would it be and why?

Mine would be LAVA. It speaks more to me and what i am looking for in a tri publication. I feel Triathlete just recycles the same stories just one year apart.

Although there is only one per 2 months and there are maybe 5 articles in it, it is well written and laid up… A.K.A. It doesn’t look like someone took “people” and put a triathlete on the cover…
If you count Slowtwitch as a triathlon publication, that would be my choice. If not, I would not get any.
ST is free and has everything I need triathlon related.
Inside Tri.
Triathlete is now as into level as Bicycling.
I like LAVA, but don’t like the idea of a magazine that is owned by one particular race series (questions on editorial independence and coverage of non-IM events).
3/Go is pretty good.
Subscribed to inside tri for the next 2 years, but then as a 5150 series racer, got lava in the mail free this month. Comparing the two, I’d say lava is more suited for the long course ironman branded events and “their pros” where ITU didn’t get covered much. I subscribed to inside tri because I thought they had better ITU coverage, like their article on Bevan Docherty and Matt Charbot, both of which were great reads, but their most recent issue was all about ironman. I don’t know what to recommend, but I know that inside tri tends to be short and long course focused, which is nice, because some information relates to me.

Really like the in-depth articles of Inside Tri and how they were trying to focus on good photography of races/people.
Also like how it is aimed for a more seasoned triathlete, not the beginner like triathlete is
I’m choosing to save a tree. None of them are really worth the purchase price.
who reads hardcopy magazines anymore?

I know I’m about to commit ST heresy, but which Tri mag has the best ITU coverage? Triathlon Plus seems to cover it more than Triathlete does, but everything is geared at long distance. Is it because that’s where most age-groupers flock? What about 220 or Triathlete World or something I have missed?
