One Last Floyd Fix!

If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s worth checking out. They posted the first chapter of Floyd’s book Positively False on www.tdottriathlon.com. The first line is “I have nothing to hide.”

.

I read the book, its good, convincing. I hope he is innocent! His ride in Stage 17 last year was one my favorite sporting achievements ever.

Me too. It made me wonder, and let me preface this by saying I don’t know a thing, but…
He talks about the fact that he created his own environment by pouring all that cold water over his head and exercising at such an intense pace.
With that in mind, is it possible that the extreme differneces in heat, cold and exercise could have triggered something in his metabolism?
I know it sounds nuts, but he is the only one that did that, won and then has this crazy test???

I’m reading the book now. About 100 pages in.

One of my favorite parts of it is getting his take on what it’s like to ride as a domestique for Lance. Nothing surprising (since I think it’s universally known that Lance can be a bit of an ass) but it’s definitely a different perspective than you get in Lance’s autobiography!

Lance did seem like an ass during the last day of the Tour. He said that last year seemed like a funeral, it was an indirect slap in the face to Floyd.

No, I really don’t think its possible that anything about him or what he did could have made his testosterone molecules look like synthetic ones. Theres no biological mechanism that would explain that

If it was possible he could easily prove it by recreating those conditions

Lance has come out in support of Floyd several times since his positive test.

You wouldn’t want a previous team college to be associated with Doping when you are LA, clean and you could kick all dopers asses for several years in a row. Would you?

No, I really don’t think its possible that anything about him or what he did could have made his testosterone molecules look like synthetic ones. Theres no biological mechanism that would explain that

If you are looking for illogical, how about testosterone not helping overnight, so no reason to do it?

How about the easy answer: bad testing by the lab.

Worth it?
I don’t think so.

But it sure is mindbending what people will believe if it is just repeated often enough.

Some kink in our brains.

Fascinating nevertheless…

I like Lance, I think what he did was amazing. I know he has defended Floyd, all cool. But. When they were interviewing him on Versus, he seemed so “bored.” It was like they were trying everything to get him to say something positive about the last stage and all he could say was how much he hated it and couldn’t wait for it to be over and on a plane home.
Seemed a bit much?

I thought he was referring to the feeling on Disco, not of the entire Tour. Compared to winning the previous seven years, I bet the team wasn’t nearly as excited as it was in the past. I didn’t think he was commenting of Floyd’s victory or insulting him in any way.

Adam

exactly, Discovery had a terrible Tour last year.

Do you know if there were any tests taken after the following stage and what the results were?

No, I don’t know
.

thanks

I just finished the book, very interesting.

Particularly telling were the number of scientists who came forward after the lab protocols (and errors) were made public to voice their opinion on how screwed up the test was. The media never seemed to report that. As someone has mentioned here before if a medical lab acknowledged botching a critical test for cancer or some other disease this badly there is no way anyone would take the results seriously.

he was talking about the times HE rode the last stage… or perhaps you missed that?

For the yellow jersey… the last stage is nothing but nerves… just trying to get through it without crashing and fucking up your whole tour.
I can see why he didn’t like it.

I guess that makes sense, but as great as Lance is, he lacks something in the tact area? Se La Vi.
