Once you win the yellow jersey do you get to keep the actual physical jersey(assuming you lose it later on?)
.
Yes - and if you keep it, you get a new jersey (and lion) for every day you stay in it. I bet Lance has a whole closet full of 'em.
Armstrong has worn the jersey 53 times.
And why always kiss the podium girls exactly three times (nonwithstanding Cippo’s P.D.A. on the podium at the Td Georgia)?
3? I know there’s the one with the zip in the back for the podium, and the “regular” one… what’s the 3rd? For framing? ![]()
Curious, how do they supply the yellow jersey with the individual team logo on it so fast?
you get two (yes, to give out to friends, teammates, etc) jerseys, and they get stamped in a van right at the finish line, which is why they never fit right. then after the ceremony the winner gets one ‘tailored’ (i don’t know how specifically) to their needs.
I know Lance has gone with a few different versions of the jersey. Sometimes he has a full zipper, sometimes it’s just a short zipper. They must have ton options for the cyclists.
The real question is when are they going to start showing up on eBay?

Believe it or not, they use an IRON ON PATCH!
They have the jersey waiting at the finish, figure out the team, iron on the team’s logo. Voila!
I remember watching a show that showed how all the teams have all the jerseys (multiple of each) for each rider since you never know when they will end up in one.
They also provide skin suits for the Time Trials.
Lucky for Lance, NIKE provides the jersey’s and skin suits for the tour riders.
you never know where one of those jersey’s are going to show up. When Bicycle Sports was here in SD, they had one of Lance’s yellow jerseys framed and hanging up. There is also one of Greg Lemond’s yellow jerseys hanging up on the walls at Reynolds Composites here in Carlsbad.
I think that’s French custom. Francois?
