Just a FYI for you group riders wanting to get as much out of each ride as possible. Doubt that I’m the only PC user that is apprehensive about showing up at rides and fearing running out of matches using your PCs. Am a late middle-ager, in top 5-10% of my particular group ride expected to do more than my share of pulling, but you just never know who is going to show up on these rides. Third year of using Q-rings and can generate a few more watts with them and really like them. Anyways, have mounted a inner 46t Q-ring on lockable PC, needing to mark the drive side so as to align spline/cranks arm/ring correctly. First 10 miles or so in locked position, fade to back of small group, take out small long handled screwdriver and pop out the locks on the fly(don’t want anyone behind you), really not difficult at all. Obviously need to stay in large ring(52) during PC use but slower cadence is where I am anyways. Towards the end of the ride actually relocked then on the fly (align correctly if wanting to use q-ring) with a hit from the other end of the screwdriver. Suspect Frank wouldn’t approve, but does allow you to tailor group ride to leave everything out on the road(no pun intended).
It seems to me that if they are locked and aligned appropriately they should work OK.
When in the unlocked position, the alignment will be hit or miss. You would randomly end up with optimal or suboptimal alignment of the q-rings, depending on the relative position of each leg. The only way I can see that you could maintain appropriate alignment on bith sides would be to have two separate cranks and chainrings, one on each side. That would be a very cumbersome setup, requiring an additional chain and sproket on the other side. There may be a simpler solution, but that’s all I can come up with.

Wow, locking and unlocking the PC’s on the fly!!! My concern here has more to do with your safety than can it be done or not. Aren’t you the least bit concerned about carrying a long screwdriver with you on the ride should you be involved in an accident (I assume it is in your jersey if you are getting it out without stopping)?
anyhow, I find it interesting that you have q ring on the small ring and regular ring on the big ring and use one in the locked position and one in the PC position. Interesting way of combining the two for use on any ride.
Not sure where you are in the powercranks transition but if you keep pushing yourself you should soon be to the point that you won’t fear “running out of matches” on the PC’s.
