On Sale: 2007 Half and Full Iron Training Plans

Hi,

Since January 2001 over 550 athletes have chosen to train for Half and Full Iron seasons using a Crucible Fitness training plan. I’ve begun to publish completely rewritten plans for the 2007 season.

Plans for 2007 will be $149 each, on sale now for $99 using promo code **mission07. **Off-Season training plans are also available for $99, on sale for $79 using the same promo code.

Changes and updates: Goals for every week of every training plan. A better weekly training template that I feel is an excellent balance of volume, intensity and frequency. Decreased cycling volume, especially on the long rides. Most long ride volume bounces between 3-4.5hrs for all IM plans. There are no over-distance rides. Advanced IM hours at 9-18 max, most in the 14-16hr range. Intermediate IM hours are 7-17 max, most at 12-15hrs. Mix of cycling intensity has been greatly changed based on what I’ve learned about the long bike in the last 6 months and through the CT interval sessions I teach locally. Improved allocation of run frequency across the training week (see template comment above) and a tweaked progression of long run volume across the plan. Increased run frequency (5x) in the last 10wks of the IM plans and sensible intensity.
All plans include Access to a closed support forum. Over 100 pages of supporting documentation, including the Swim Clinic eBook and a growing archive of swim videos and critiques. Team discounts on Crucible Fitness training and racing uniforms, Infinit Nutrition, and Wheelbuilder race wheels. Team update every 1-2 weeks: my training thoughts and brain dump on a wide range of topics. Discounted phone consultations to augment your training plan. Free pre-race talks at CaliHalf, WF, IMAZ, IMCDA, IMLP, IMWI.

Rich, any idea when HIM plans will be done?

If I’m planning on doing 2 HIM’s next year, would I follow your plan as a build to the first and then do a shorter recovery/build to the second?

Hey Rich, c’mon HIM advanced plan with power, I’m just looking for a plan I can take and scale a bit and tweak to my needs as I’ve realized my goal of writing a plan from scratch is never going to get completed…

Hey do you have a logo, want a crucible fitness sample tech shirt?? tai@taigraphx, full color, whatever, I’ll print one out and send it over

HIM Advanced with/without Power are completed. Intermediate flavors should be done tonight.

If you go to my forum you’ll see a sticky regarding stacking training plans across a season.

I’ll also offer discounted options for multiple plan purchases and the opportunity to combine that with a discounted phone consult and tweaks to training plans at an hourly rate.

So something like 1 plan at full price, second at discount + phone consult to discuss managing the seams between plans, athlete-specific modifications, etc, + hourly rate to go into your plan and tweak it. But let me finish writing these first before I build that service. Thanks.

Intermediate HIM w/without Power are completed and available.

Beginner IM and HIM will be later this week

Bump. Not sure if I’ll get the Beginner plans done today but will do early next week.

Also, sale has been extended through Jan 15

Hi Rich, I’m considering signing up for your Intermediate HIM plan without power. My only concern is I have never trained by HR, even though I have a Polar S150. Does your website explain how to best establish your max HR to program the watch, or do you just do use the 220-age formula (I’ve heard that is not very accurate). I’m not sure how critical this is, but I thought I’d ask and at least bump your thread back up to the top of the page given all the recent postings on the main forum about affordable training plans. Thanks.

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the assist. Yes, the documentation does provide guidance for determining heart rate training zones.

Rich,

I have been following your seamstress/tailoring plan idea and am wondering if that will be hammered out before January 15th. Thanks.

Rich,
What is the wheelbuilder discount that goes along with these plans?

Thx,

Kyle

Rich, I sent you a pm.

He might be out of town at the moment. I remember him saying on his forum he was taking off for a week or so. I’m not sure when he posted that but he may not be back yet. Just don’t be surprised if it takes a few days to respond. If he’s in town he’s usually right on top of getting back to people right away.

Nevermind. Looks like he’s back.

Hi Kyle,

The Wheelbuilder discount is 10%. I’m riding with Rich tomorrow morning and I’ll see if there are any more specifics.

rich, i see the main change is moving the brick run from sat to sun. was this just to get it farther from the long run?

Doing Arizona in april. Im a sub 12 hour finisher. Ive been training for Disney marathon but doing little on the bike and swim since clearwater 70.3. My question is, which plan should I get?

yeah, that’s one of the changes among many. Then in race prep I add a brick off the Saturday bike to create 5 runs per week. All of the cycling workouts and volumes have been tweaked, etc. I basically started over from scratch on all the plans.

ZR,

Intermediate Race Prep. Use the first few weeks of the training plan to fill in the gap between the marathon and when the training plan is supposed to start…not sure if that makes sense

Rich - I had planned to purchase the advanced, non-hilly, with heart rate IM Plan for CdA 2007. With the rumored revisions to CdA bike course, would you recommend the hilly course plan, or is that just for the REALLY hilly courses like Canada and LP? Thanks - Jim

I haven’t heard any rumors about the course but if changes dramatically, I can always issue guidance to the team to ammend the plan. That’s an easy fix.
