I am doing my first half next week. Is there a rough guide to what times I should aim for based on my Olympic times. The courses are fairly similar and are even at the same race location. Someone mentioned account for the extra distance and then add 10%. Any other points of view?
As many will probably chime it, there are a lot of variables but assuming roughly the same amount of fitness for each distance, I am right around 2:30 Olympics and 5:40 half ironmans. So that is right on the 10% add-on you suggested.

The lake is the same lake, the bike course is the same course, except it is two loops plus a bit more and the run course is the same but with an extension. The Olympic was there 2 weeks ago and the half is next week so the variables should be at a relative minimum compared to other examples.
It gives me an idea of pacing anyway ![]()
