Two stories about Craig Mottram, an Olympic finalist (8th) in the 5000m at Athens who particpated in the Noosa Triathlon on the weekend…19th overall in 1:53.54 (about 7 mins behind Craig Walton) with a 10km run split of 32.09…
Craig was a top junior triathlete before focusing on his running. He decided to do Noosa some time back so I imagine he has done a bit of solid preperation.
Craig did 5 weeks training in the pool and on the bike. The pro race was definately non drafting, though with 3000 odd bikes on 20km of road - it is a total draft-fest unfortunately. The pros used to draft legally race when Noosa was an ITU race, but not anymore.
He said he was totally uninteresed in a Triathlon career, just a little cross training for fun. Fun, funny mention this, coz he did/and still does have talent.
Snowsil was awesome out there!
pinkboy…Its not a tri unless it has a marathon on the back of it
