Oliver half iron reg. now open

Hey Gang, registration for the 2006 Oliver Half Iron is now open. As I remebered a couple of ST’ers posting last year that they didn’t get a chance to race last year as we filled up by mid-Sept I thought I would post this.

The race is June 4th, 2006 in Oliver BC, 45Km South of Penticton. Course consists of a 2 lap swim in Tucelnuit Lake, 2 loops around Oliver and past the vinyards and a 2 lap run. We will have 10 IMC qualifying spots and will again have the “voice of Ironman Canada” Steve King announcing. It is a fairly fats course geared towards the newbie and the speedster alike. We expect another competitive field and are excited to be back in Oliver for our third year.

If anyone has any questions about the race just send us an email. FYI, we start reg. early so people can plan their season as a large number of our athletes are training for IMC.

Thanks

Sweet - I was one of those guys that missed the boat this year. Thanks for the post.

I hate your run course man, but it’s good prep for IMC.

Oh - and for the benefit of anyone else who’s thinking of racing… THE BIKE COURSE IS NOT DEAD FLAT!!! (Joe never claimed it to be, but someone else on this board told me that it was)

Okay, I’m in. At last I get to avenge my 08:31:xx time from 2004, where I was clever enough to ride a 39x15 fixed gear on the “dead flat” course.

I keep telling you - its the wind and the fact you rode a fixie - not the hills, there are no hills!

Hey Joe,

Glad to hear it and thanks for posting it here. I missed out this year when the Oliver 1/2 filled up early and then I was inured for the Desert 1/2 and had to withdraw. Looking forward to next June.

Great race with a great race director. More northwest athletes should catch Oliver Half or the Oliver Spring prior to IMCDA
