OldSchool Quintana Roo's.....still in the basement?

If memory serves the model I had was the Superform USA…w/o a doubt the best tri season of my life. I think it was mainly my running coming into form, but I will never forget that old steed. Sold it when work became too busy with travel and thought I would never race again.

Does anyone know if any of these old steel beasties are around? I mean really, I would probably buy one if it was rideable and didn’t need work. I know it’s not carbon, it’s not aero, it’s not even light…but damn it’s my own little foray into the old days and I just might race that sucka one day.

Did QR ever make one with 700c’s?

oldschool titanium ones still winning races!

oh crap i missed the boat!!! had no idea they made a ti frame!

i’m googling for older qr’s…

My ‘old school’ Ti is not quite that old but i’ve got a 2001 Tiphoon.

Every now and then ebay.

Not sure what size you are looking for, but last time I was at Belmont Wheelworks they had a new, very old QR in their annex. Didn’t pay too much attention to it b/c it was way too small for me, but I commented to the guy working there that it was the coolest bike they had. He agreed.

I’m heading back there next weekend (6 hr. drive) on my annual pilgrimage, I’ll ask if it is still there.

what size are you looking for? i have a 53cm superform in the tom teesdale lime green/yellow splatter color. if i can find the camera i’ll post a pic later. i was gonna build it up for the trainer but i think i might break out an old-school speedo and actually do a race on it  i picked up a '98 QR carbonaero 1" fork to upgrade the frame, but haven’t installed it yet.

QR made an alu 700c tri-bike in '99 called the PR7 but it was only, i think, available in 55cm and up. after ABG purchased QR from dan they started making more bikes with 700c wheels.

i have a 1997 QR Kilo, size 55 or 56 (I can’t remember how the sizes ran back then) with 650 wheels. Its all round tubes.

The frame is in good shape, but the rest of the bike needs some work to be rideable again. I stole some spacers from the steerer tube at one point, the clamp that attaches the saddle to the seatpost is stripped so that needs to be replaced.

It’s a solid frame. I split my fastest bike split ever on it way back in 1998. (54 minutes for 22.5 miles). I used to run H3’s on it, which I’ve since sold.

I keep meaning to bring it back to life, if nothing else to use as a dedicated trainer bike so I can keep my P2C purely for road use.

Hmmm, I still have my mid-90’s TeQuilo. It has been loaned out many times and is currently keeping my daughter company in Monterey.

That bike is fast and quick…I often think about bringing it home and racing it. It was awesome with the dinner plate chain ring.

I would need a 58 as that’s what I had last time…thanks though guys.

I had a 1998 QR Kilo. It had big fat round aluminium tubes. I replaced it with an early model 2001/2 Cervelo P2K.

Wow, I thought my 05 Kilo was old. Love the looks of that Ti frame!
