I wouldn’t be able to post a picture anytime soon. she (the girl with the bike) lives a good hour away from me.
feel free to take some guess as to what it is, I know nothing about road bikes. I’ve been biking (bmx/freestyle and later mtn. bikes) for 20 plus years but road bikes are foreign to me.
I had to laugh when it took me 20 plus minutes to figure out how to shift the thing. shifters built into the break levers(!), who would have thought!
I hate to break it to you, but shifters built into the brake levers (Shimano STI and Campagnolo ErgoPower) have been the norm on road bikes for the last 12 years or so.
Shimano now has this functionality in their mountain line, called Dual Control I believe.

that’s good to know. that tells me/us that this bike in question is probaly 12 years old or newer…
If it’s a Quintana Roo, and it’s purple/silver (original paint), it could be a Special Edition or an old Zero Gravity. The Kilos (Kilo and Kilo Private Reserve) and Te’quilos back then usually came in a single color scheme.
I don’t think they came in a two-tone, either. Like you say, Slowman could probably clear this up in a heartbeat. As far as the STI set-up, that could’ve been added aftermarket. I think that the original Special Editions and Zero Gravities had downtube shifters, also.
