I’ve been racing tris and crits now for sometime, having both a road and tri bike. Both bikes are fit well and I have never once had a problem with the seats. Last night I raced a fairly tough crit. Was in the drops the entire race. Rode like a banshee. In my cool-down lap, I noticed my unit was entirely numb . . . totally, no feeling whatsoever. Along the backside of the course, as discreetly as possible, I even pinched the darn thing a couple of times, with little feel from the pain. Feeling came back within about 10 minutes of being off of the bike. Much to my relief, all functioned fine later that evening, as I used some romance with my wife as a pathetic pretext for figuring if I had a problem here.
In all seriousness, has anyone experienced this before? Something to be concerned about? I’m not sure if perhaps in the heat of the race I somehow positioned myself differently on the seat, or perhaps never had an opportunity to relieve pressure by minor movements. This freaked me a bit because of concern for longer term damage. I cannot imagine numbness is a good thing.
