Going over ideas for Christmas presents (read: tri gear), my wife and I had a discussion regarding racing gear. What do you like to see the guys wearing during a race?
one piece tri suit
two piece tri suit
swim briefs with what my wife calls the “tank-kini” (ala Faris Al Sultan)
My wife isn’t a big fan of Faris’ look or the one piece look. Any thoughts?
depends on the guy’s body. Different styles flatter different people.
just as the little black dress my wife causes accidents on the streets when she wears makes some other guys wife look terrible, racing attire looks different on different people.

I prefer guys in a two-piece suit. Don’t like the one piece.
I think the important question is what does your wife like? Why do ya care what we like?
I’ve been caught behind too many big hairy assed guys to like speedos, my vote is for a two piece tri-short, singlet ensemble that matches ie: all Zoot, all DeSoto, all Orca. It bugs me when people mix and don’t match.
i would agree with all of the above: different things look better on different people, etc.
that being said, i think the best look on MOST guys is the 2 piece tri suit - tri shorts and a singlet that reaches all the way to the top of the shorts.
I also think that the most important thing is how comfortable you are, not how you look. If you are more comfortable racing in a one piece suit for 1/2 IM and in a speedo and man-bra in a sprint, rock it all. Confidence, comfort and feeling good in what you are wearing is better than worrying about what other people think about how you look.

For the record, she also prefers the two piece , which is what I wear. The discussion about it we had was kind of funny, so I just thought it would make for some fun posting.
since you’re asking I definitely prefer the long tri top with bike shorts. But really comfort has to be #1 doesn’t it.

I don’t care what they wear, just so it matches! Bonus points for coordinating with the bike. At least don’t clash.
I do agree that some guys shouldn’t wear speedos.
