OK, I've had enough. I need to go somewhere wet and warm:

Costa Rica for sea kayaking?

Any other suggestions? I need about 5-7 days to be in the warm water, be in the sun, sleep on the sand, watch the stars at night, hear the jungle sounds and see interesting things.

I was looking at this:

Waking up to 48 degrees and a forecast of rain all day in mid-Michigan has me down too. I know it’s spring, I can see the green leaves and grass… but it’s so dry and cold!

Hell isn’t hot and muggy, it’s cold, grey, and bone dry.

If you’re headed to Central America, visit Belize first. Buddy of mine lives in and owns a surf shop on the beach there. He’ll die on the front porch of that place because there is no place better on the planet for chilling.

I shot this in Belize:

Come to Grand Cayman, Tom. Bring yer wheels and ride some too. I can hook you up with some diving etc… and lots of rum

Wet and Warm? Tom, I think you just need to get L**d!

Great idea. I´m really rating a few days down here in Spain in the sun. Being able to sea swim without a wetsuit is a real plus. Costa rica sounds great though…

How about the Brazilian lady. She’s warm, right?

I thought this was another naughtly thread. That seems to be the trend lately. Seems like everyone is out training madly and not getting any.

she’s OK. I’m bored with it. I have a short attention span.

For vacations, nothing beats cruises for me. The Caribbean is my choice of venue. It’s not the healthiest of vacation with all the food and what not (although there is healthy food to be found there - I just choose not to eat it), but to hell with it when I’m vacation I say. The warm Caribbean sun, waking up someplace new almost every day, and you really get pampered when you’re on board. You don’t have to lift a finger.

Of course, I’m the ultimate sloth when I’m on vacation. If you’re looking for something a little more active, it might not be for you.

A cruise would be a living hell for me.

If you hate cruises, you might enjoy David Foster Wallace’s essay “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again”

Tom,

At the time you were posting this in Dearborn, those of us in GR were ready to join you. At 9:09 am, the rain had just quit and those of us mere mortals on the 25K run still had 6+ miles to go! Take plenty of pictures wherever you go so we can at least IMAGINE feeling warm with you.

Tom,

Check out Honduras. Some of the best beaches in the world and largely undiscovered as yet. Great diving, great beaches, great food, and pretty cheap still.

Well, it’s hot and humid here in Borneo. We dive at the weekends, I dodge cars during the week on the bike. Beach runs go on for miles and miles. There’s a fleet of hobie cats and a 38’ yacht to play on (they’re not mine but I can play with them).

We have a spare room.

There’s no bars though (muslim country), but we have a rack full of wine at home.

I took a nice long sauna instead of riding in the rain this morning. You’re welcome to come chill in Minnesota if you’d like.

Somewhere warm and wet. That’s easy - any tropical scuba destination. Just spend most of your time under the water but in a 3mm wetsuit and you’ll be both…

Enjoy Tom. Wish I could away.

Did part of our honeymoon here.

Probably not exactly what you’re looking for, but if you’re thinking of going to CR, you’d be missing out if you didn’t make it to the Osa Peninsula in the SW region of the country. Huge national parks, tons of beuatiful beaches, accomodations from semi-luxe (like above) to rustic camps. Traveling is easy- same time zones, but different latitudes, different attitudes, as Buffett says… whatever you choose, be sure to take some pictures for us.

On a completely unrelated topic- is there a map for the Nankin Mills course up anywhere? I couldn’t find it on the net, any help is appreciated.
