OK guys, gimme a hand here: Editorial ideas you may enjoy- put 'em here

jk_allen13 mentioned I hadn’t posted a new editorial to the bikesportmichigan.com website in some time. We’ve just been too busy. However, I do have four ideas that are finished but not edited- none of which I am wild about.

So, while I am very particular about what I write about and am inspired to write about, I would love to hear some ideas if you don’t mind…

Let 'er rip.

well you’ve got some P3C’s so give us a low down, we all know it looks good
.

How about something on Cipo?

my favorite editorial you wrote was the one about calvin/colin. maybe you could do another piece on the other people in your world - bike shop employee/your cats/parents…

TRuthfully, it may be a while before I really review the P3C since I have yet to get one in my size and actually do a lot of work with one. The only thing I know at this point about it is that it looks nice and seems like a relative bargain.

I do like to write the sort of characterizations of people in my little world on this corner of earth. They are fascinating characters.

Do other people find this interesting? It is easy to get inspired by that- there is a lot to talk about.

Colin’s brother Steven is an interesting figure now.

How about some stories from your past as a professional cyclist?

That would be quick since I was never a professional cyclist.

Hey, I was just trying to be polite! I vaguely recall you describing it as “bush league?”

How about what it’s like to be an Airborne Ranger.

That’s easy:

Wait around.

Clean things.

Clean them again.

Wait some more.

Do secret shit.

Clean up after it.

Wait around for more secret shit.

It was an elite amateur team more specifically, which allowed us to race in events with Sean Kelly, Laurent Fignon and Greg LeMond (can you tell how old I am). It was cool, but I sucked.

Actually though, that is a pretty good idea…

Simple…“Why is it a MOP’er keeps coming back…and why did they start to begin with…what is at the end of the journey for the rest of us…”

Or, track down some former FOP’ers but not top 10 folks…find out why they quit…and what they do now.

That is huge. Five stars on that one… I already have a title.

All I ask is for credit on the idea

Tha’s a given. I really do like that idea.

How about an interview with your friend Frankie Andreu? It would be interesting to hear his take on the current state of things, and whether or not he’s ever going to join the tri world.

More fiction, a la your special forces piece.

Maybe profiles on some of the Slowtwitch personalities … who they are, what they do, why they do it. that sort of thing.

I wrote a follow up to the special forces thing featuring the same fictional character who returned to Iraq in Gulf II as a private contractor. It was written when Scotty H. was killed in Falujah on the bridge.

It was too edgy though, and probably would get me in the same trouble as the first one (http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/editorials/0000023.shtml). I was pissed when I wrote it, so all the bad guys died ugly.

how about where this notion of triathletes being “friendly” came about? Seriously, I hear about it, and have experienced it, but have also experienced some serious snobiness. Is this “encouraging notion” in tri, a part of what defines us? I hear people say “oh I started tri cuz I heard everyone’s nice” etc. but at the same time I’ve seen some elitism from some towards newbies… which doesn’t help some of our more fragile egos…

or maybe i’m just ranting about some jerks in a local club that were snubbing us today…

tell me some more about this please: What happened?
