Ive been fitted and Retuled and now its time to buy the bike whos stack/ reach (seat 833mm, stack 610mm, reach 570mm, aerobars 290mm, stem 100mm) fits me best and that is a P2C in a size between a 58 and a 61. 61 with a small amount of spacers or 58 with a few more. Im leaning towards a 58 as it will allow me to get a little lower than the 61 as I improve my fitness level. For now, I can put up with some spacers. So, Ive been hunting around the internet and found a few good deals nut now Im at an impass on which to actually lay my money down on; 07 P2C or 08 P2C Ultegra. Both are new in box, never used and the difference in pricing is about $200 (the 07 is more expensive). The 07 is a lot of DA with FSA Carbon cranks whereas the 08 is Ultegra. Which is the best buy? I know the differences in build (DA vs. UL, brake levers, etc… and color scheme but is there any frame improvement from one year to another? This is my first tri bike and one I want to ride for a few years to come so hit me with your advice.
There is no frame difference (except for paint scheme). The only difference is in component specs: The earlier P2C was dressed up somewhat better (hence it is a bit more expensive). But you seem to be aware of this, so it really comes down to your color preference. Good luck, and enjoy the ride (you will).
Go with the 58.
spacers are not something to be ashamed of, and you can always use an angled stem if you really hate them for some reason ![]()
The 58 frame will be a tiny bit lighter and more aero since its smaller, and it usually feels better controlling a smaller frame than a bigger one.
which would be a better buy, 07 P2C for 2300 or 08 P2C Ultegra for 2100?
hmm, one way to look at that question:
If you are not a weight weenie, the ultegra one is a better buy because thats about all the dura ace will do for you is save a few grams.
If you ARE a weight weenie, you will eventually replace all the dura ace stuff with even lighter stuff anyway, so the ultegra is a better buy. heh.
Do either come with the 3T Funda fork? I honestly can’t remember if they upgraded the P2 or not.
As stated by others they are the same bike and spec differences are not major.
Personally I hated the white 2007 paint job so personally I would be looking at the 2008. I have the blue 2007 and would buy that one over an 08 or 09 because I think it is the best looking paint job Cervelo has ever put on a tri bike.

cervelo spec’d some bikes with the 3T and some with the wolf fork, its important to check each individual bike, for me that would make the difference

I agree with these two fine folks. I know the '07 won’t have a 3T Funda fork. The '08 bike MIGHT have one. If it does. It’s the winner!

I have an '08 P2C with the DA build. When I was shopping around I believe I was told or read that the DA bikes for this year (White and Red) also have a Kevlar insert in the head tube that the Ultegra (Black and Silver) frames don’t.

I have another question: when is bikesportmichigan going to ship the 09 pc2 da that i ordered 2 months ago? Has anyone else gotten some '09 shipments yet?
no, both bikes are coming with the wolf fork. color scheme isnt that much of a deal breaker for me. its cool but not that big a deal, its not like its going to make me faster. im thinking im leaning more towards the 07 since the group its spec is a little better and i would end up upgrading at some point in time or another. i was just worried about and substantial frame revisions or anything like that that might have taken place between model years. good/ bad?
Since the bike has obviously been sitting on someones shelf for a couple of years 07 and it is in a hard to sell size 58cm or even harder 61cm I would ask about a discount. I am sure they would rather clear out old inventory with a smaller mark up than have it sit on their shelves for another 6 months or longer. If they come down by $200 then you get the best of both worlds. It couldn’t hurt to ask.
