See all it took was Obama to go down there, Thanks Obama!
.

Now can we light the Gulf of Mexico on fire?

I was wondering the same. Why not just burn everything off the top?

I was wondering the same. Why not just burn everything off the top?

DUH…Because it would abnormally heat the water which would then travel to both poles and melt the ice caps even more. Therefore dropping the tempatures world wide causing cautostrophic storm’s plungin us into a ice age of never before seen proportions before finally starting the actual global warming

I could be mistaken but in areas where the concentration is high enough to burn that’s exactly what they are doing.

assuming the spill has been stopped - Who will be the first Righty to proclaim that environmentalists are disappointed because they were hoping on a mega-catastrophe.

Obama’s presser.

One question, one ten minute answer.

maybe this is just like ocean’s 11 and they took a shot of the floor before the eruption, and are replaying that video feed/still frames. Meanwhile, the leak is still going on and they are so worried that they only do this to buy more time?

They have been doing isolated burns but these are tough to do because you need a high enough concentration of oil and you need to be able to control it. It has other implications related to air quality as well. I think BP wanted to be able to salvage as much of the oil as possible to recoup some of the cleaning costs so they are hoping to capture it (rather than destroy it) as much as possible.

These guys suggest using hay/straw as an adsorbing media for the oil.

Not really practical but I do like watching good 'ole boys trying figger out a solution.

I thought I saw Bill Nye the science guy dropping sand on oil to show it clump and drop to the bottom. Or better yet why not just use a shat ton of kitty litter its like cleaning up a mess in your garage times 1 billion
