Ohio TTT- elevation grades

Anyone have stats on the % grade incline and distance for (bike and/or run) for some of the more intense hills at TTT?

I remember Gordo saying there was more climbing at the TTT then the Auburn 1/2 IM, like 6000 feet. The only major steep climb is Thompson Hill. You will be going up or down all weekend long. Have Fun Sunday morning

I varies too much to say as you always seem to be on some type of incline ;). There are a couple of short sections on Thompson with the switchbacks that most have to stand though, myself included, and I usually don’t do that unless it is over 18-20%. Most are your typical 7% grades.

I’ve done it 3 times, these are my approximations.

Race one…1 hill about 10% a few minutes of climbing

Race two…Thompson hill road starts near 15% for a few hundred feet in elevation then drops to near 10% for the next three hundred

Race three…Route 125 on the way back is near 10% for 8 to 9 minutes of ride time for me. The 3 stage hill is a little steeper but much shorter

Race 4 the long hill is around 10% for 7 to 8 minutes of climbing, then 3 stage hill, then you do it again.

Good info thanks.

There is about a billion hills between them but those are the major ones.

I’m going down in the beginning of May to ride the courses again.

Why in gods name would you want to ride those courses more than once a year??? Are you going to jump in the lake to get nice and numb first so it’s more like race day when you can’t feel your face, hands or feet?

jaret is a bit “off”. Just kidding J.

not to steal the tread but any of you live in central ohio?

Making a weekend of riding that stuff when you are not racing is a great time.

Instead of riding 1:15 to 1:20 on the saturday courses, we take two hours and ride some of the hills twice…Uh…maybe there is something wrong

It was only last year that the water was that cold. The previous 2 years it was well into the 70’s.

That is just our normal routes down here … we actually go down to the Smokies for the real hills (i.e. 7-10 miles or 5-7%)

It is a really nice area to ride. And the fire road on Sunday’s ride is a great climb. I do wish I was doing it again this year. Have fun.

If you pull up my reply you’ll find a link to a race report and I posted my Ergomo files there, too.
