Cool! I think Mike (InfinIT1) needs the scarlet and gray one.

Beware the sweater vest …

i hope we don’t get killed again :frowning:
.

I’d like to see OSU win for 2 reasons:

  1. I grew up in Dublin- OSU is the home team. Plus, my hokies blew the Orange Bowl tonight… shit.

  2. I once had a boss who went to LSU. He was a lying asshole.

GOOOO LSU… I apologize but alas i’m a Meeechigan fan and my buddy is from the bayou…

Was in the French Quarter last night - a lot more Ohio State fans out than I expected to see. The ones I saw were loud and very confident - you could say they were “cocky” but alcohol was playing a huge part. BY Monday, the town is going to be 100 to 1 LSU fans - should be interesting.

GO LSU!!!

I’m with you. GEAUX LSU

I think LSU would win a best of 5 series, but something tells me to bet on OSU for this game. I think they’ll be revved up after last year’s smackdown. There D has been decent all year, and I think the talent levels are similar. I just think they’ll come out hungrier.

Have lived in Baton Rouge and Columbus. Been to both stadiums numerous times and love the football tradition that both schools have.

This time gotta go with The Ohio State University! Besides the Tiger(s) got killed last week in San Francisco.

LSU tigers are working it as we speak. Go tigers.

H

but something tells me to bet on OSU for this game.

I hope you didn’t listen to “something”.

All the talk about Ohio State being mad about the “Fast SEC” and “being 0-8 v. SEC in bowl games” and “last year” cracks me up. Who cares how pissed you are if you can’t/don’t do something about it?

I can just imagine how tittilated the “SEC is over-rated” crowd was when the Bucks were leading 10-0. That didn’t last long. You could tell the game switched on the blocked field goal. From experience, you play a lot differently against a better-than-you opponent when you are winning versus when it is tied or you start to lose.

The score I picked for ESPN Bowl Mania was LSU 35, Ohio State 17. Unfortunately quite a few of my other picks (Hawaii, Oklahoma, etc) screwed me and my good pick of the “score” won’t even come close to being in play.

Q: How many point lead do the Buckeyes need v. an SEC in the championship game and STILL win the game?"
A: The world will never know. grin

Gotta love SEC fans. They all root for their entire conference. I guess it’s easy to talk trash when they have an entire conference of teams to cheer on. Here in Columbia, all the Gamecock fans will be giving me all kinds of shit, and Spurriers boys spent the holidays at home!

Will the BCS folks ever learn to stop overrating the Big 10 teams?

It’s really not a case of BCS “folks” overrating anyone. The BCS championship game is determined by a mathematical formula, based on various polls and power ratings throughout the country. It’s really the poll voters (sportswriters and coaches) who overrate teams and conferences.

IMO - the Big 10 showed it had plenty of speed Wisc vs. Tenn, Mich vs. FL and OSU vs. LSU.

The game last night had nothing to do with speed. OSU just got beat by a better team, not necessarily a faster team.

I agree that 10 years ago there was a speed issue.

I’m an LSU grad and fan but I have to say Chris “Beanie” Wells is the real deal. I wish he played for us.

Bob Sigerson

It is time for the Big Ten (Little Eleven) to be relugated to Mid Major like the WAC and MAC. For two years their top teams have been humiliated. Two Rose Bowl Blowouts and two BCS Title Game Blowouts.

This was arguably the best season of College Football but except for the Orange Bowl all the BCS games were one sided

Will the BCS folks ever learn to stop overrating the Big 10 teams?

Reminds me of my youth when the media would go bonkers about the “granddaddy of them all, the Rose Bowl” and convince us that the Big 10 team was the real deal – only to then suffer the ritual trouncing by USC. I fell for it everytime.

I’m a big 10 fan, grew up 45 minutes from Champaign-Urbana, IL … and played in a high school conference/region that produced a lot of the Illini’s good basketball players.

But, previusly, I brought up that the SEC was the best football conference, and some essentially said I was anything from FOS to “drinkin’ tha kool-aid”.

I present facts/events to illustrate my point. I certainly don’t root for the SEC, although I have a soft spot for Auburn … maybe it’s the navy and bright orange. grin

Can’t a big 10 fan admit that the SEC is athe best overall conference?

THe BCS is set up to reward the team from the major conference with the fewest number of losses. I would rather see the forumla reward “big wins” … and reward teams that actually play and beat highly ranked teams.

Having one loss without ever beating a top 20 team is not all that impressive … for a national title contender.

SEC is the hot conference at the moment. Believe me, my Gamecock co-workers remind me on a daily basis.
