I don’t know what to say other than sad. Sorry forgot the link http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/29/us/ohio-factory-owner-cnntv/index.html
I believe it, I’m in Cincinnati and haven’t been able to keep a third person on my lawn mowing crew more than a couple of weeks. And I pay good money and don’t even drug test.
In May, I spoke at a national labor conference on the topic of legalized marijuana. After my presentation, a number of people from different parts of the country asked whether they were “required” to have a no tolerance drug policy b/c they were losing so many applicant to positive drug tests.
Most of it is pot, but it is real issue. Legalized maryjane may be the answer.

Opioids, bro-homino. It’s horrific. I think a Detroit-area drug ring was just busted the other day, too. They were running opioids and cocaine and heroin from Detroit down to some county in Kentucky. One of the ring members said that he was selling about 500 pills daily on behalf of the Detroit-based ringleader. That’s crazy.
Now, I’m a libertarian, and if you’re not hurting yourself or anyone else, then what you do is your own business. But taking this sh*t officially constitutes hurting yourself as well as others. In that case, something’s gotta be done about you if you’re that muck of a dope head/pill head that you can’t pass a drug screen even if you know it’s coming. SMDH.
So you are a libertarian not in favor or total drug legalization?
I don’t know what to say other than sad.
It is a real issue. Especially considering JSA’s comments below
Equally as real are issues of workers comp and in the case of companies like mine that have 70+ employees in company leased vehicles, auto claims. That’s a lot of liability on the road considering some may have MJ (legal or not) in their system

Another reason to move to Canada. ![]()
Sorry I forgot the link but now put in. Problem is she cannot have people operating heavy equipment under the influence. No easy test to see if someone had pot three days ago or two hours ago. Same issue in the oilpatch in Alberta in an article I read about a year ago. Legal pot wouldn’t solve that. The only time I have came close to hitting a moose was in New Hampshire. So we will have to come up with other reasons to move to Canada.

This is the biggest problem. Colorado, which legalized pot a few years ago, still outlaws driving under the influence, which includes pot. They draw blood if there is probable cause and have a limit of 5 ng THC. The state paid an independent medical organization to perform a study and come up with that limit. The problem is, that is one study.
With alcohol, the feds put up millions of dollars to perform hundreds of tests on thousands of individuals to come up with a sobriety chart. Because pot is still a schedule 1 narcotic, the feds won’t put money into any similar studies.
So, we have a few and those few and new and largely speculative. In addition, other studies show that alcohol affects everyone similarly (not the same, but within reason) but that is not the case with THC. So, 5 ng of THC in one person may show no effects at all while in someone else, the person may be wholly incapacitated.

I saw her on Smerconish this morning and also thought how sad. Marijuana seems to be the biggest issue getting the job and for those with jobs, the opioids and hard stuff are what impair people from keeping a job. A friend of mine told me that while interviewing potential employees, the one older guy who seemed to be ‘with it’ failed a drug test from marijuana. We both asked “Could he not have waited until after the test?” If the guy were a card carrier and smoking medicinally he would have gotten a pass but that was not the case.
After 11 years of a stable job and sobriety, my tenant relapsed with pills. His stupid ass worked at a damn recovery center, could have gotten drink and drugs from anyone at the corner burger joint but asked a fellow employee for a fix then was ratted out. Surely he will find another job with the help of the last but chances are slim that he will pass a drug test for a while. Pendejo!

The duration of THC remaining in one’s system varies from person to person. With modern tests, it can be detected for up to 90 days post use. Most drug tests used by employers are simple “pass/fail” tests. With these tests, the THC level is rarely reported. So, we could be talking about minute amounts from up to 90 days prior.

I don’t know about Ohio, where this lady’s at, but up here in the Detroit area it’s extremely easy to buy “clean” urine when you go in to your prospective employer’s contract medical clinic to, as they say around here, “drop pi$$.” Maybe they’re just not up to the task of cheating on a urine specimen test down there in Oh-High-Oh?

I have actually witnessed people attempting to cheat a urine test, and the cup came back and showed the urine wasnt up to temperature (I think like 95 degrees, but could be wrong), and the guy tried to claim it was his meds. But sorry, no-one will buy that since body temp should be over 98 and in theory, if that was your urine it would have been that temp, or VERY close to once it hit the test strip. With that being said, im sure some cheat and pass too…

Another solution would be to require drug testing to get your government benefits (and make sure they are monitored to prevent cheating better then is done now).
Yet another solution would be to give people a graduated step off of benefits, instead of soon as you make a certain amount a year, your cut off completely (often, making it the same or better being unemployed). Give people motivation to work harder to take more home. Say they make 12k/yr on benefits (im just using numbers, dont have to be the most accurate to get a general ideal). Let them get a job and earn extra income, but whatever they make extra, they get half of that less in benefits, so if them make 12k/yr then they only get 6k in benefits. If you keep on some sort of pattern like that, they actually have motivation to make more money. What motivation do they have to work extra and try to actually better themselves if once they make 12k/yr, their benefits are cut out completely? So their options are dont work at all and make 12k/yr (often working up to the point of being cut off of benefits or under the table), or work a normal job and make 12k/yr.
Or we could legalize marijuana and stem the entire opioid epidemic.
But, I supposed hunting for unicorns could work as well …

Yeah, having more people reaching for harder stuff after they worked 3 consecutive shifts at TESLA would make our economy REALLY competitive again…domestic and internationally.
I already have enough problems with my TESLA that appears to have be assembled by drug junkies…actually it looks more like “by monkeys”.

My attorney has a Tesla S. Awesome looking ride, and a tech marvel, but he says it has more gremlins and bugs requiring constant fixes than anything he’s ever owned before. Just goes to show that it’s harder to build a quality car – especially one that relies so heavily on technology – than most people think.
The biggest hindrance as I see it is the tort bar. It does no good to legalize drugs if you can’t get or keep a job. Without liability reform zero tolerance will be the norm. The Democrats will have to choose which special interest group to appease
