Oh no, my titanium bed

I have a One Of A Kind titanium bed that I designed a few years back at Litespeed and a few guys in the shop helped me build it then. It is a simple one piece queen sized platform design with integrated headboard and has served me well over the years. But here comes the dilemma. It fit easily into my house in Chattanooga (where the pic was taken), it also fit in well into the Piedmont Leaf Loft apartments here in Winston-Salem with its huge staircase. But in the house where we just moved to (a cool 1925 Bungalow in the West-End of Winston-Salem), there is just no way to move it up the narrow staircase, unless we deconstruct the staircase, the railing and a few door frames. It is very sad because the master bedroom is actually very big. Because I also did not want to leave it in the living room or dining room (the only space where it could be moved to), it is currently in the unfinished basement. :frowning:

Now the question is, do I put HED or Zipp wheels on it and race it in a triathlon, or do I sell it? Or are there any other smart suggestions?

How big is the window to that bedroom? If it would fit through the window (even with popping the whole frame out), take it outside and hoist it up and in that way.

Dude, like the solution is obvious. Retrofit it with S&S couplers.

too funny. only you.

why not just slice that baby down the middle and refit with set screw inserts?

otherwise i’m sure there are a few SR-71 hotshots who trip all over themselves for it.

How many times have you smashed your shin on that thing?

I will second the S&S option and think this would be a must on such a sweet bed.

How many times have you smashed your shin on that thing?

I never have, but my wife has a few times.

I love the old style phone…you should have gone the extra step and use the really old ones that are on the wall with only a cup-shape ear piece etc.
Hope it has the old ring too :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes! Absolutely the perfect solution. Just think of the bragging rights, and shouldnt have any negative effects on the vibration dampening qualities of titanium.

You have all the coolest Ti toys. you’re my Hero.

Yes some couplers are the only option.

+n on retrofitting it with couplers…

the West End is a cool neighbourhood, and handy for the Y too if memory serves, plus a decent track right there in Hanes Park. Excellent… now I’m all nostalgic for W-S. Are the daffodils out in Reynolda Gardens ?

Well, time to get that Cervelo carbon bed. Its the fastest bed tested…

S&S coupler retrofit and you’re back in action, Herbert! Can’t believe you didn’t think of that!

Yes, the S and S Couplers are a must!!

That way you could expand the bed size from full to queen to king, if needed:) or down size to twin, if needed.

Carbon fiber would be interesting, but would you have to becareful it did not crack, if you slept to hard in it??

Titanium bed? You got avocado colored fixtures in the kitchen?

yes, look into this Herbert. This is the method I used to get a large bookcase that wouldn’t fit up the steps to the 2nd story of my house.

And I have to ask, that thing hanging behind the bed in your photo, has the new wife banished that?

If you cool it enough, you should be able to shrink it.
