You know, I realized something. Every time that somone crashes or is about to have an accident, they all say “Oh, shit!” I do it a lot. I have read crashed reports on ST about people using this expletive milliseconds before they wipe out. I have talked to people and everyone yells “Oh, shit!” Now, why does everyone yell this? Is it something that is ingrained in people in our society such as the meanings of red, yellow, and green?
What causes everyone to reacte the exact same way when they are about to bite the pavement?
Funny you mentioned this. I heard an interview with the guy that listens to the ‘black box’ recordings of pilot chatter on crashed flights. He puts all crash conversations in three categories. Category 1 is when the pilot realizes that he is going to crash and talks very professionally and calmly describing the situation right up until the crash. Category 2 is when the pilot realizes he is going to crash and loses control and start crying or sobbing while basically going apeshit. The last category, catagory 3, is when it is a sudden crash and there is no time for thought. He said that nearly every pilots last words were “oh Shit”.
