What? No bombastic pronouncements of lies lies lies? We should all claim he harassed us, settle, and have a big party with Tibbs up in Utah. 
The settlements were “separation packages that were in the five-figure range,” according to the report. What that means is I suspect under $50,000. If they were closer to $100,000, the report would have said that. Typically you want to make the settlement seem as high as possible for reporting value.
I say that because if it is in the lower part of the 5 figure range, you are going to spend that easily on attorney’s fees. Only to ultimately have a judge send you to mediation and have a mediator try and “split the baby” so to speak. Were these settlements reached in mediation? I didn’t see one way or the other. Settlements this low are often simply business decisions.

I like the interview with Martin where he says, “we just aren’t going to go into the specifics of what happened.” Really? Why not? Perhaps because the details would tell everybody that this is essentially a non-story.

Ann Coulter, a conservative talk show host, helped spark a wave of support for Mr. Cain by calling the accusations “another high-tech lynching” and accusing “liberals” of going after him because he is “a black conservative.”
Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center, echoed that theme in an Internet posting, saying that “in the eyes of the liberal media, Herman Cain is just another uppity black American who has had the audacity to leave the liberal plantation. So they must destroy him, just as they tried destroying Clarence Thomas.”
Not that that was very hard. Oh, and the Cain line is “witch hunt.”
Honest question: does Politico qualify as “liberal media?”
I think that likes its founder, it’s a mixed-bag - but has a tendency to lean left whenever it gets away from straight reporting. I read Politico daily, and sometimes feel like there is a bias, clearly see a bias, or see no bias at all.
In this case, they risk pushing themselves to a perceived level of partisanship currently occupried by FOX and MSNBC, if this story proves to be wrong.
